If you’re a movie buff, then you have probably seen the recent launch of Sony Pictures Core, which allows PS4 and PS5 owners to access a sizeable library of new movies and modern classics. Going to see movies on the big screen can be expensive, and streaming them can be just as costly, depending on your subscription. Luckily, PS Plus users now have access to an awesome discount that’ll make it easier to see some of the latest releases without breaking the bank.
Following the launch of a selection of free movies on Sony Pictures Core, a new PlayStation blog details that “we’re pleased to see strong engagement for Sony Pictures Core since launching earlier this month on PS5 and PS4 consoles. Sony Pictures Core provides access for players to buy or rent up to 2,000 movies straight from their console, and as a PlayStation Plus member, you’ll get additional benefits.” Well, those benefits are coming to fruition in the form of a 15% discount for PS Plus members, no matter which tier they opt to use.
The discount begins from Wednesday, November 1, 2023, and will continue until the end of the month. PlayStation explains that “all PlayStation Plus members will receive a 15% discount on all content available for purchase and rental in Sony Pictures Core” during this limited-window. While you might wish this discount applied to all the new PS5 games coming out, or some of the best games of the year like Alan Wake 2, this is a great chance to see some newer movies you have missed this year.
Such titles include Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse, the excellent follow-up to 2018’s Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse. If you thought the animation of the first movie was incredible, then you absolutely need to see this movie in the best quality possible. And, you know, it is perfect to watch while you blast through one of the best PS5 games of the year, Spider-Man 2. You can also watch movies that are still showing on the big screen, like The Equalizer 3, which caps off the Denzel Washington-starring trilogy.
Alongside this nifty discount, the blog also digs into the new Silent Hill show, which is an interactive streaming event. “In addition to the interactive series, a weekly compilation of audience-influenced storylines will be packaged into TV episodes, and PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe members will have exclusive access to all weekly compilation episodes 24-hours before they debut on other platforms,” the blog post clarifies.
However, if you happen to have PS Plus Premium or Deluxe membership, you “catch the first one early on [Wednesday] November 8 at noon PST local time, before its wide release on November 9.” We recommend pairing this fresh Silent Hill show with this array of free PS Plus horror games.
There are plenty of movies to catch up on via Sony Pictures Core, but of course, we’re always on the lookout for our next gaming adventure. Here’s what you need to know about all the recent free PS Plus games, as well as our complete PS Plus Extra and Premium games list.
