April lineup of new PS Plus games is a dream for LEGO and Marvel fans

The roster of PS Plus April 2024 games will bring you blocky goodness in not one, but two new free LEGO games to download on PS4 and PS5.

It doesn’t matter what age you are, everyone can appreciate the greatness of LEGO, especially in videogames. The good news is that if you’re looking for laid back fun with your favorite Marvel characters or even some ninjas, the latest drop of PS Plus games isn’t to be missed. Whether you’re playing on PS4 or PS5, get ready to add LEGO Marvel’s Avengers and the LEGO Ninjago Movie game to your library on April 16.

Alongside two brand-new PS5 games heading to PS Plus on day one, the upcoming slate of new PS Plus Extra and Premium games for April adds a double heaping of LEGO mayhem. First up is the LEGO Ninjago Movie game, an adaptation of the titular 2017 big screen animated adventure. It wasn’t quite as good as The LEGO Batman Movie, but we did appreciate the very obscure reference to the Tom Hardy movie, Locke. While that wild pop-culture nod is absent from the game, there is a much better experience to be found here than the movie itself.

If you’ve played any LEGO game on PS4 or PS5, you’ll find a breezy, short story to dart through – and some easy trophies to add to your collection too. However, if you want at least a modicum of difficulty, we recommend jumping into the Challenge Dojo. In this mode, you can battle tough enemies and eventually a boss, all while mastering the art of plastic nunchucks. The star of the show, though, is one of the best games in the entire LEGO gaming series.

LEGO Marvel’s Avengers rounds up some of the most famous faces in the Marvel pantheon. Hulk, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and many more are all present as you journey across iconic moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unlike Square Enix’s ill-fated but very underrated Marvel’s Avengers, the LEGO interpretation doesn’t feature an original story, but you can bring in characters who weren’t seen on the big screen originally.

Want to defeat Ultron with a team consisting of Daredevil, Moon Knight, Thanos, and iconic The Incredible Hulk TV show actor Lou Ferrigno? Thanks to some backwards compatibility magic, that and so much more is possible in one of the best PS5 games you’ll find in April’s lineup.

On the off chance that you’re not looking for some LEGO fun, then April’s PS Plus roster will also include add one of the best racing games in Ubisoft’s library, The Crew 2. Backed by a welcome 60 FPS patch to make it run as good as the cars you’ll be driving, the game also features an enormous recreation of the United States that is fully explorable. You’ll also find some RPG game antics within Miasma Chronicles, and sci-fi thrills in Deliver Us Mars.
