If you’ve got an itch to fish, or are hankering for an emotional metroidvania, then now’s the perfect time to be a PS Plus Extra or Premium subscriber. This month, award-winning indie surf-n-turf banger Dave the Diver, as well as the highly-anticipated Tales of Kenzera: Zau are heading to PS5. The best part? Both games will arrive on PlayStation’s subscription service, on day one, for no additional cost.
Having fished up plenty of nominations, as well as a 2023 Steam Awards win, Dave the Diver finally gives plump, middle-aged white men the exposure they definitely lack in this industry. Quick jab aside, it’s a phenomenal little RPG game about deep sea exploration and restauranteering, and one which you should immediately add to your library if you have ~25 hours or so to spare.
Dave the Diver will get you hooked on April 16 when it plunges into the PS Plus games list.
2.5D action platformer Tales of Kenzera: Zau, meanwhile, is already being touted as one of 2024’s most exciting indies. The first game to be launched by Surgent Studios (founded by Assassin’s Creed actor Abubakar Salim), Zau’s adventure will see the warrior-shaman embark on a journey to find Kalunga, the God of Death, to bargain for the return of his dead wife, Baba. The Metroidvania game’s prevailing themes revolve around grief and loss, so you know it’s going to turn you into a sobbing mess.
Tales of Kenzera: Zau will leave you emotionally compromised on April 23.

Seeing not one, but two top-quality new PS5 games come to PS Plus on day one is a real ‘pinch me, I’m dreaming’ moment. We’ve become accustomed to Xbox’s strategy of plying its Game Pass service with fresh exclusives as soon as they launch, but to see Sony seemingly start to increase the frequency with which it is providing valuable day-one additions is brilliant news for its subs.
While you’ll have to wait a little while longer to get your hands on Dave the Diver and Tales of Kenzera, the monthly giveaway of free PS Plus games is now live and ready to claim for April, and you can check out details on those titles here.
