Mother Nature has conjured up a couple of ways to manage democracy with potentially horrific consequences in the new Helldivers 2 update. The PS5 hit’s latest patch heralds the arrival of both blizzards and sandstorms as full-blown planetary hazards that are sure to keep you on your toes while you’re out in the field. As well as this wild weather, there are plenty of comprehensive tweaks in the new Helldivers 2 patch notes, including a bolstered level cap and some delicious Dominator buffs.
While the multiplayer game already featured blizzards and sandstorms as adverse weather conditions that affect visibility, we expect the planetary hazard versions to be a much larger pain in the ass than their meteorological siblings. We were blessed with a reprieve from the extreme weather events after their recent nerfs, but it looks like developer Arrowhead has decided that inflicting despair is way more entertaining. Needless to say, Joel’s going to have some fun with this, much to our expense.
Elsewhere in the PS5 exclusive’s latest update, the level cap has been trebled to 150. This means you can now better showcase just how many hours you’ve dedicated to spreading freedom and liberty throughout the galaxy. From our testing, you’ll automatically be raised to the correct level based on how far over the original XP cap you were as soon as you log in after updating your game – that’s ‘Admirable Admiral The Loadout’ to you.
As with any new patch to one of 2024’s best games, there are plenty of balance changes afoot. The Slugger’s been slugged, reducing its damage, demolition force, and stagger. However, as one Helldiver-favorite weapon bites the dust, another rises from the ashes to take its place. By the looks of things, the Dominator is poised to feature more prominently in the fight for Managed Democracy after it received a 50% damage boost, as well as a bump to its stagger.

Unfortunately, it looks like the issue that has been affecting cross-platform friend invites for the past several weeks has yet to be rectified. Arrowhead has noted this as a known issue in the notes so, hopefully, it won’t be long before you’ll be able to get your homies from further afield involved in the action.
