If you’re enjoying Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet on your Nintendo Switch, but you’re looking for something a little different, the new Pokémon Scarlet DLC and Pokémon Violet DLC might be perfect for you – as strange as that sounds. Throughout The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, both The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk, you’re going to take your best Pokémon Scarlet Pokémon and best Pokémon Violet Pokémon on a vacation in a new adventure that transforms this experience into five Nintendo games in one. Sounds exciting, right?

During the latest Pokémon Presents showcase, The Pokémon Company COO Takato Utsunomiya presented us with some details on what players can expect to see in the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet DLC expansion. Alongside new faces in Kitakami students Carmine and Kieran, and new Pokémon in Dipplin, players will be able to explore and take advantage of several new gameplay mechanics – almost all of which resemble existing Nintendo games.

For example, as you can see at the 29:50 mark in the video below, you’ll meet travelling photographer Perrin in Kitakami. They’ll ask you to help her find a particular Pokémon and invite you to join them on their photography of all the Pokémon in this new area outside of Paldea. Although not exactly identical, the gameplay here is strikingly similar to New Pokémon Snap – a Pokémon photography game.

In addition to this, the Ogre Oustin’ mini game included in The Teal Mask DLC incorporates a Mario Kart-like balloon-busting experience wich rewards you with mochi – items you can use to improve your Pokémon. Similarly, you’ll be able to jump into a Flying Time Trial aking to Nintendo’s old Pilotwings game in the second part of this DLC, The Indigo Disk.

This second DLC also incorporates interior design gameplay somewhat similar to what you would see in the Animal Crossing series. In the League Club, you can decorate the Clubroom however you see fit and unlock new features like new ways to throw Pokéballs and even more Pokémon battles.

Oh, and The Teal Mask also comes with a Roto-Stick tool for your camera. This is pretty much Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet’s version of a selfie stick, so capturing those magic moments with all your favorite Pokémon will never be easier.

Does that all sound like something you want to check out? We know we can’t wait to see what secrets there are to uncover outside of Paldea. You can learn more about the Pokémon Scarlet DLC release date here and more about the Pokémon Violet DLC release date right here. If you own both Pokémon games, you shouldn’t need to purchase this post-launch content twice. However, it’s still worth knowing what each one offers you – they’re not exactly the same game.

Both Pokémon games are some of the best Nintendo Switch games out there, and they’re certainly among the best Switch exclusives available right now. From what we’ve seen of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, that isn’t going to change anytime soon. Pokémon Violet and Pokémon Scarlet are going from strength to strength with this new content. You may also want to pick up one of the best Nintendo Switch controllers for this one; stick drift ain’t no joke.
