Visual Concepts’ NBA 2K24 is an evolution of the series’ last release in more ways than one and it might just be one of the best sports games we’ve ever seen. Beyond improvements to NBA 2K24 MyTEAM and NBA 2K24 MyCAREER, you’re going to be able to spend your time courtside in NBA 2K24 MyNBA Eras – just like last time. Unlike last time, though, LeBron James’ sensational 2010s – where he played with Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers – is front and center in The Lebron Era.
Ahead of the long-awaited NBA 2K24 release date, 2K reveals that players will be able to rewrite history with LeBron James’ own MyNBA Era – focusing specifically on his career during the 2010s and the “Heatles” which saw LeBron, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh dominate the league. This will be present in all of the historic Eras and bridge the past and future of the NBA in MyNBA with a unique experience players will want to check out.
This mode also returns with MyNBA Lite, an iteration of the experience that aims to deliver an easy-access pick-up-and-play version of the full MyNBA experience. This will offer players more freedom to play how they want, by removing CBA restrictions and contract limitations, and – with any luck – a satisfying experience for newcomers and veterans alike.
From what we can tell, however, these additions and improvements to MyNBA will only be available in NBA 2K24 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A press release detailing this announcement conciously does not mention last-gen platforms in its discussion of the improvements to MyNBA. However, it does confirm that MyLEAGUE will return for these platforms.
If you support the WNBA, you’ll be pleased to know that The W is set to return with its own set of improvements. You’ll be able to choose your own entry point into the league, go toe-to-toe against some of the WNBA’s best in “In Pursuit of Greatness”, and pick-up games. There’s also going to be a whole host of new MyTeam rewards to earn, so it’s worth checking out.
NBA 2K24 also has a premium ‘battle pass’ packed with rewards to flex on the court, if you’re looking for even more. Although, expect to see more than enough available through gameplay and even more – we imagine – when the NBA 2K24 Season 1 release date rolls around.
It might just be the latest iteration of an annually-released series, but NBA 2K24 really is one of the most interesting upcoming Xbox games out there and one of the several upcoming PS5 games worth keeping an eye on – even if you don’t know much about the sport. Graphically, these releases continue to push boundaries and the gameplay is always incredible. We expect NBA 2K24 to deliver an even better experience than last year, and these new features add to that.
