MultiVersus update finally adds counter to Batman’s batarangs

Player First Games' next MultiVersus update is finally going to fix Batman's batarangs - but, don't worry, he's still going to be on the stronger side of things

MultiVersus Batman batarang counter update: an image of the caped crusader with his arms crossed

With news that MultiVersus’ first batch of Morty buffs is coming with a rather large set of MultiVersus patch notes, there’s a lot to look forward to in the next major update for Player First Games’ free to play fighting game. However, that isn’t exactly the case if you’re a player who mains Batman in-game. Why? Well, game director Tony Huynh has seemingly confirmed that the upcoming projectile changes are going to hit Batman and his batarangs the hardest.

Responding to a disgruntled fan complaining about Batman nerfs, Huynh explained that the development team believes that “Batman’s batarang lacks counterplay… [making] him not fun to fight against”. With the goal to make this fighter “fun for both sides”, Huynh believes that the “global projectile system overhaul” arriving in the upcoming update is going to ensure that “all projectiles break the batarang”.

Yes, that’s right. MultiVersus players will no longer have to deal with unbreakable batarangs bouncing about and causing chaos. We can’t say we’re going to miss that, but it’s understandably something that is going to be somewhat frustrating for Batman mains used to including this ranged attack in their selection of the best MultiVersus Batman combos.

However, you might be interested to know that Batman’s batarangs were always meant to break. Responding to his own statement, Huynh continues to explain that all of this was “a bug.. [it was] not intended that Batman’s batarang doesn’t break against other projectiles”. He also goes on to say that “Batman is currently netting out to be on the stronger side of [the MultiVersus roster]… All [Player First Games has] done is fixed an obvious bug with the batarang”.

So, that’s good news – right? The game director still believes that Batman will be strong – but, we’re still going to review his position on our MultiVersus tier list. Players will just need to be a bit more careful with their batarangs going forwards, now that they’ll break on other projectiles. With the right selection of the best MultiVersus Batman perks, though, this can be managed a little better.

It’s clear that, despite the fact that it has only been out for a little while, MultiVersus is one of the best fighting games available. The constant attention to balancing and the onslaught of new content coming show that Player First Games is dedicated to creating a fantastic experience for fans. We just hope that any more MultiVersus Taz buffs are well-measured and we don’t see his tornado attacks dominate again. We just can’t deal with all of that.
