MultiVersus’ first batch of Morty buffs are arriving soon

MultiVersus' next update is going to introduce some buffs to new fighter Morty, despite the fact that he's only been in the fighting game for about a fortnight

It’s only been out a little while, but it’s already clear that MultiVersus is one of the best fighting games out there – and for good reason. Those behind the game at Player First Games are always looking for ways to improve the title and its fighters with near-constant updates and fantastic communication from the developer. In fact, MultiVersus’ newest face, Morty, is the perfect example of where this incredible post-launch support is working. Why? Well, MultiVersus’ Morty is already getting a bit of a buff – and he’s only been out for two weeks.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, game director Tony Huynh has confirmed that “Morty got some buffs” in MultiVersus. However, as you can see, this phrasing is a little confusing as it’s talking about Morty’s buffs in the past tense – despite the fact that he hasn’t actually been buffed at all yet.

What seems to be the situation is that Huynh is referring to the title update that’s been delayed to September 8 that includes Morty buffs among other exciting additions to the MultiVersus patch notes – an update which also coincides with the MultiVersus Gizmo release date.

In response to another fan, Huynh has explained that this upcoming update is “a big patch”, with the hope that the notes themselves will be available “a bit of time before the patch so everyone can digest a bit”.

What does this mean for Morty? Well, we don’t know just yet. As popular MultiVersus leaker ‘AisulMV’ has pointed out, however, Player First Games’ official patch notes page has been updated visually. This could be in preparation for the release of the aforementioned “big patch” and could start to make understanding what’s changing and what isn’t in-game a little easier for fans.

We know Morty isn’t too high on anyone’s MultiVersus tier list right now, but he can still be a lot of fun with the right MultiVersus Morty combos – and he’s more Mage than Bruiser, anyway.
