Forget Kameos, you can unlock a killer Roomba in Mortal Kombat 1

If you want to change up your Invasion build on PS5 and Xbox, you can unlock Johnny Cage's killer Roomba in Mortal Kombat 1 right now - but it isn't easy.

NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 is overflowing with secrets and easter eggs for fans of the fighting game series to find. Some of them are very easy to come across, like Johnny Cage’s Alien reference in the MK1 story mode, and some of them are near-impossible to find. One of the hardest to find, but easily the best one we’ve seen so far, is hidden in one of the hardest Towers in Mortal Kombat 1’s Invasion mode. However, you can actually unlock Johnny Cage’s Roomba in Mortal Kombat 1 if you can make it through – and it’s as deadly as you might imagine.

Shared online by Nitara fan ‘X-Mutant‘, skilled Mortal Kombat 1 players can actually unlock a Talisman in the single-player Mortal Kombat 1 Invasion mode that lets them summon Johnny Cage’s Roomba – no matter which of the Mortal Kombat 1 characters they’re playing as – to deal devastating damage to their opponents. Well, maybe not ‘devastating damage’, but it’s a useful tool when you’re up against an opponent who likes to sit back and block – something CPU opponents love to do.

Called ‘Automatic Cybertronic Shinslayer’, this Legendary level 30 Talisman both summons a Roomba to deal low attacks to your enemies, but it also gives you an additional 3,000% damage to life – which is certainly nothing to be laughed at. The fact that all you have to unlock it is beat a Mortal Kombat 1 Tower seems easy enough, right?

Well, it isn’t quite as simple as spamming a few of your favorite Mortal Kombat 1 combos until you kill everyone off. As the post below explains, while also showing you what the Roomba looks like in action, you’re going to need a few items before you start – and be level 30 in Invasion.

First things first, you’re going to need to make sure you have several Challenger Medallion konsumables; the best place to find these in Invasion is the shops scattered throughout the Sun Do Festival mesa. You may have to check a few to make sure you have enough, but this shouldn’t take too long; you just need one for every time you attempt the tower, basically.

Once you’re all stocked up, you need to head to the Seasonal Challenger Tower in the Gateway Portal Mesa. ‘X-Mutant’ recommends you use Nitara for this Tower, but we feel as though any one of the characters atop our Mortal Kombat 1 tier list will do – if you’re quick enough. You just need to make sure you’re level 30, ready for a series of tough fights, and that you have activated the Challenger Medallion konsumable before you start. This is the important part.

When you’re ready to go and you’ve done that, you just need to jump in and start fighting your way up the Tower. This might take you a while, but you don’t need to do anything too special here. You just need to make it past the Johnny Cage fight. Then, things get interesting.

Once you’ve beaten Cage, you’ll stumble across a secret Survive stage – something we believe is triggered by the Challenger Medallion konsumable. Here, you need to survive against Johnny Cage’s Roomba for an undetermined amount of time. This is very hard, hence the Nitara recommendation from ‘X-Mutant’; she can air-dash and stay off the ground for a lot longer than other characters.

If you die, you’ll need to restart the entire tower, making sure you’ve activated another Challenger Medallion konsumable before you do. So, that’s why it’s worth stocking up on them in bulk beforehand. However, once you’ve beaten this incredibly difficult struggle for survival against Johnny Cage’s Roomba, you’ll need to finish the tower and beat the final Mortla Kombat  1 Test Your Might challenge.

Then, and only then, will you unlock the coveted ‘Automatic Cybertronic Shinslayer’ Talisman for use in Invasion. We know it’s a shame that this isn’t available in standard Versus or Story mode, but it really is an excellent Talisman that will certainly help you push for the best rewards Invasion has to offer.

If you want to prepare yourself for the rest of the tower, which is a wise idea, you can find out more about all the best Mortal Kombat 1 fatalities right here and check out our Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo fighters tier list here. Unlocking Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 1 is easy, but costly. Unlocking Johnny Cage’s Roomba, however, is free – but a lot, lot harder.
