Joining the already stacked roster of Mortal Kombat 1 fighters, a new preview at New York Comic Con 2023 reveals the first look at Omni-Man. While many MK1 players are still awaiting a look at Homelander from the Amazon Prime hit The Boys, Omni-Man’s debut comes at a perfect time for fans of the Robert Kirkman animated show. That’s because the first trailer of Invincible Season 2 is now live.
The debut look at the new addition to all the Mortal Kombat 1 characters marks a monumental moment for fans, as NetherRealm Studios chief creative officer Ed Boon says that “in celebration of Invincible’s 20-year anniversary, we were happy to show this peek at Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1.” Sporting all the bloody action that MK1 fans have come to expect, Boon adds on social media that this initial look is only the beginning.
Boon expresses that as “amazing as the reaction to the first look/peek at Omni-Man has been, that was not an official gameplay trailer. You ain’t see nothing yet.” Alongside appearances from Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo Fighters, the footage sees Omni-Man face off against familiar favorites, such as Liu-Kang and Scorpion – and massacres them in the process. With callbacks to bone-brunching moments from the TV show, fans of Invincible will be glad to see a particular subway-themed scene in one of the best fighting games from 2023.
J.K Simmons reprises his role as Omni-Man, lending his distinct vocal talents to the intimidating villain. You’ll need to get access to the Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack to play as Omni-Man, which can attained by purchasing the Premium Edition of the game, or the pack separately. However, Omni-Man isn’t in the game right now, as you’ll need to wait for the Mortal Kombat 1 Omni-Man release date in the meantime.
The fun doesn’t stop with this footage, though. Accompanying Omni-Man’s MK1 debut is the first trailer for the second season of Invincible, showcasing what’s next for the titular superhero ahead of the Invincible Season 2 release date. In an age where superhero shows and movies are abundant, Invincible is undoubtedly one of the best TV series you can access with your Amazon Prime subscription.
If you haven’t got around to watching it yet, the show is based on the Image Comics series, which began in 2003. Concluding in 2018 with a total of 144 issues, the show is developed with the comic series’ mastermind and Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman.
Until Omni-Man arrives, we can also look forward to the Mortal Kombat 1 Season 2 release date, which is set to bring new content for Invasions mode and more.
