Lies of P story
In Lies of P, you play a mechanical version of Pinocchio. You awaken in a Bloodborne-esque gothic city with a note pinned to your clothes that tells you to find Geppetto.
The city of Krat is full of twisted creatures and enemies in a dark retelling of the story of Pinocchio, where your overall goal is to leave behind your mechanical roots and become human. This plays a key role in the story, as you are locked off from areas if you decide not to lie, sticking to your puppet roots.
Lies of P gameplay
Lies of P gameplay has been shown off a ton since the game was first announced. Back in 2022, we saw our first proper look at the game, which you can see below.
That gameplay trailer made it evident that Pinocchio will be able to use several different weapon types as he fights his way through the overrun city of Krat. We see P wielding everything from shovels to flaming swords, claymores, and even a cannon built into his arm. No doubt there’ll be many fun builds to experiment with. You can even finder a deeper dive into the weapons here:
Our review for Lies of P goes into detail on some of the mechanics, like being able to break weapons and the narrative choices you will have to make, as we mentioned above. Overall, the game is a fantastic soulslike and our reviewer Jason Rodriguez said in our review “Lies of P borrows heavily from a tried-and-tested formula indicative of the soulslike genre, but it still has combat mechanics and secrets that set it apart from the rest of the pack. Despite difficulty spikes and some muddied story beats, it is an excellent soulslike worth checking out that isn’t completely reliant on ideas from other places.”
