What are the best Lies of P builds? This soulslike has six stats that you’ll want to take note of. Some, such as Vigor and Vitality are self-explanatory, whereas Capacity is something you’ll have to manage. Others, like Motivity, Technique, and Advance affect various kinds of weapons. Our Lies of P builds guide discusses the ideal stats to prioritize for different playstyles.
Whether you are on PS5, PS4, Xbox, Game Pass, or PC, these builds will be a lifesaver. You’ll face numerous enemies and Lies of P bosses, and they’ll present tough challenges. You might want to make the most of these stat setups and combine them with the best Lies of P weapons and best Lies of P legion arms so you can fine-tune your build.
Lies of P best builds
The best Lies of P builds are:
- Motivity build – Vitality, Motivity, Noblesse Oblige, Coil Mjolnir, Holy Sword of the Ark
- Technique build – Technique, Two Dragons Sword, Uroboros’ Eye, Etiquette, Tyrant Murderer’s Dagger
- Advance build – Advance. Black Steel Cutter, Electric Coil, Salamander Dagger
Before we dive into each build we need to take a look at each stat, or at least the general ones that aren’t specialized for a build as well as weapon scaling. We consider Vitality, Vigor, and Capacity as general stats in Lies of P. This is because they don’t necessarily affect the damage of your weapons.
For weapons, check their scaling in terms of Motivity, Technique, or Advance, as well as their grade. For scaling, a grade of “A” is the highest, whereas a blank (no letter grade) means that the weapon does not scale with a particular stat.
The general stats are:
Vitality
- Gain +10-12 HP; you’ll see diminishing returns after allocating around 35 points.
- Increases Guard Regain (the amount of recoverable HP after blocking normally).
- Increases physical, fire, electric, and blitz resistances.
More HP means higher survivability. Even if you take damage, your health should be high enough that you don’t get killed in a single hit.
Vigor
- Gain +3 stamina; you’ll see diminishing returns (i.e. +2 and +1 only) after allocating 20 and 35 points, respectively.
- Slightly increases physical, fire, electric, and blitz resistances.
Generally speaking, you’ll want to have enough stamina, especially if you want to swing your weapon consistently or do charge attacks. Also, take note that you lose stamina when you dodge or block successfully. For the latter, a fully depleted stamina bar causes your character to get staggered.
Capacity
- Gain +3 max Legion and +3 weight per point.
- Increases physical, fire, electric, and blitz resistances.
Carry weight is somewhat important due to all the gear pieces that you can wear, including some hefty ones. Your character’s encumbrance will also determine your movement speed and dodge speed/distance. You can adjust based on the gear that you have equipped but don’t prioritize this when allocating stat points.
Weapon scaling works as follows:
Motivity
- Increases physical attack; diminishing returns at around 35 points.
- Increases Legion Arm damage slightly.
- Slightly increases physical, fire, electric, and blitz resistances.
Motivity is the equivalent of Strength in other games. That means you can wield slower weapons that also pack a punch. You may need to recheck your equipped amulets and parts since Motivity-scaling weapons tend to weigh heavily.
Technique
- Increases physical attack; diminishing returns at around 35 points.
- Increases Legion Arm damage slightly.
- Slightly increases physical, fire, electric, and blitz resistances.
Technique, meanwhile, is akin to Dexterity. This implies using weaker and lighter weapons with higher attack speeds. This can lead to one of the best builds in Lies of P if utilized correctly.
Advance
- Increases elemental damage depending on the weapon; diminishing returns at around 35 points.
- Gain +1-2 Legion per point.
- Increases Legion Arm damage slightly.
- Increases physical, fire, electric, and blitz resistances.
- Increases disruption, shock, and break resistance.
Lastly, there’s the Advance stat, which focuses on elemental damage. While this doesn’t increase a weapon’s physical DPS, it will instead boost the elemental procs ( fire or electric). It’s also the only stat that confers additional resistance against disruption (instant death), shock (stamina drain), and break (decreased healing).
Motivity build
- Stats: Vitality, Motivity
- Weapons: Noblesse Oblige, Coil Mjolnir, Holy Sword of the Ark
This Motivity build means allocating points to both your Vitality and Motivity. This is mostly so you can have enough HP, while also increasing your DPS with Strength weapons. Likewise, you should have enough Vigor for your attacks and blocks, as well as Capacity due to equipping heavier weapons. Examples of Motivity weapons include the Noblesse Oblige from Simon Manus, the Coil Mjolnir, and the Holy Sword of the Ark.
As an aside, heavy weapons are, naturally, slow. The biggest downside, however, is that many enemies and bosses have wild combo chains and faster attack speeds. Worse, as we’ve noted in our review, there’s virtually no poise mechanic for your character. This means a single attack from a lowly enemy mob is enough to interrupt your attack animation regardless of equipping heavier gear pieces.
Technique build
- Stats: Technique
- Weapons: Two Dragons Sword, Uroboros’ Eye, Etiquette, Tyrant Murderer’s Dagger
A Technique build also follows the Motivity template, except we’ll naturally put more points into the Technique stat. Most armaments will also be lighter, which means you don’t need to put as many points into Capacity, or you’ll be able to wear high-end gear. Examples of Technique weapons include the Two Dragons Sword, the Uroboros’ Eye, Etiquette, and Tyrant Murderer’s Dagger.
One of the best builds in Lies of P relies more on Technique since, as we’ve noted, you’re going to face opponents with faster attacks. In essence, you’ll simply match speed for speed.
Advance build
- Stats: Advance
- Weapons: Black Steel Cutter, Electric Coil, Salamander Dagger
Lastly, one of the best Lies of P builds focuses on the Advance stat. The kicker here is that you’ll need to take note of elemental damage from weapons and not their physical damage.
Still, it’s also viable to add a few points into either Motivity or Technique, whichever has the higher letter grade. Examples of Advance weapons include the Black Steel Cutter, Electric Coil, and Salamander Dagger.
In any case, these are what we consider the best builds in Lies of P. Don’t forget that you can respec much later in the campaign once you’ve completed the Grand Exhibition level. You won’t be stuck with your build for long, as you’ll be able to reallocate your points elsewhere. For other tips and strategies, you can visit our Lies of P endings guide.
