Years of waiting are finally over for Starfield fans as the long-awaited Bethesda RPG is out now on Xbox and PC. There’s so much to see and so much to do out there in space, but game director Todd Howard already has another kind of adventure in mind: the new Indiana Jones game. Amid the launch of Starfield, Howard updates Indy fans on one of the key upcoming Xbox games to look out for.

Speaking in a new interview with Esquire, Howard expresses he is “a giant Indiana Jones fan. It can be brought to video games in a unique way.” Noting that his favorite Indy movie is the character’s debut, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Howard says that Indiana Jones “game is obviously ‘you’re exploring stuff’. It’s about him. So if you’re playing the game, how do you feel that you are indeed playing versus just watching?”

Unfortunately, if you’re looking for any indication of an Indiana Jones game release date, Howard isn’t giving up that information just yet. With just one announcement trailer teasing where Indy’s adventures could veer off to, Howard says that “we’ll talk next year” regarding bigger reveals around the project.

Rumors surrounding how the game will play purport that it will feature mechanics similar to that of Cyberpunk 2077. However, there is still much unclear about the forthcoming Indy game. Speculatively, going off of Bethesda’s track record, it could be primarily a first-person adventure – marking a drastic shift from third-person games like The Emperor’s Tomb and Staff of Kings. Narrative wise, we know that it will be set before the climatic franchise movie The Dial of Destiny, as the trailer places Indy in 1937 – a time period rich for experimentation.

We still don’t know if Harrison Ford will reprise his iconic role, either, but we can hope Ford has lent his talents to the beloved character just one more time.

Nevertheless, until a bigger reveal emerges, we recommend pooling your time into the Bethesda space behemoth, Starfield. It’s a little space game you may have heard of recently.
