Listen up, folks, because Arrowhead Game Studios (and the galaxy) needs your help on the Helldivers 2 front lines. The developer is teasing the arrival of the next major Helldivers 2 update, and urgently asking players to deploy on the harsh lands of Tien Kwan. You’ll need your wits about you, but if you can’t make an impact right now, the forthcoming Helldivers 2 Warbond, Cutting Edge, should help to stomp out your foes.
It’s an incredibly exciting time for one of the best multiplayer games around. PS5 players are already dropping onto the brand-new Helldivers 2 planet, which is also the source of the Exo-45 Patriot Exosuit – the enormous mech that Arrowhead has been teasing recently. This is a result of the developer requesting players to put up a fight: “our factories are under attack, halting all output. Helldivers have been deployed to liberate Tien Kwan!”
Like any battle in the sensational co-op game, it won’t be easy, but we’re already thinking of how to utilize all the new weaponry arriving in Helldivers 2’s next update on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Aside from planting your boots on Tien Kwan, Arrowhead details in a recent PlayStation blog that the Cutting Edge Warbond gives you “the chance to enhance your loadout of liberty with ultra-futuristic armor, guns that spit lightning, super stylish capes and epic emotes.”
You’ll find three fresh layers of protection to experiment with in the Cutting Edge Warbond, which are as follows:
- EX-03 Prototype 3: Includes a rubber underlayer for insulation. Handy, really, as this prototype’s wires operate at a shocking 400,000 volts
- EX-16 Prototype 16: Electric arc generates a strong magnetic field. Avoid use while near stapled paperwork
- EX-00 Prototype X: The end result of several billion Super Credits and 12 years of research into creating ‘the Soldier of Tomorrow’
Arrowhead doesn’t specify what tiers these armor sets fall into, but one thing is clear: things are getting electrifying. We’ve already sent our teammates to the afterlife with a few rogue misfires of the Arc Thrower or careless placements of the Tesla Tower.
More shocking weapons are coming, such as the LAS-16 Sickle (a laser rifle that operates like the Laser Canon), the SG-8P Punisher Plasma (a Punisher shotgun variant with Plasma rounds), and the ARC-12 Blitzer (projects close-range lightning bolts, and can fire four of them). Additionally, there is a “new stun grenade, the G-23 Stun, and the LAS-7 Dagger pistol.”
With all this fresh weaponry, we reckon that the addition of mechs will make one of the best PS5 games even sweeter. Whether they’ll protect from the deadly Planetary Hazards is unknown, though.
In related gaming news, Helldivers 2 has made this weak weapon into a powerhouse, and don’t expect Starfield on PS5 anytime soon – despite the rumors.
