We don’t think it is an understatement to say that Rockstar Games has a magnetism surrounding the studio that few others manage to capture. It can just whisper small GTA 6 news on social media, and the tracks for the hype train are already built. The recent announcement of the upcoming GTA 6 reveal proves this, and then some, as the GTA 6 trailer confirmation is breaking records on X (formerly known as Twitter).
With over 1.5 million likes and counting at present, Rockstar Games is already making history with GTA 6, and we haven’t even seen a single frame of it. Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated new PS5 games and new Xbox games on the horizon, the post from the developer has been read by over 164 million people around the world. It is a staggering number, which almost equates to the amount of copies that predecessor GTA 5 has sold (190 million according to Statista as of November 2023).
Now, Rockstar Games holds the record for most-liked gaming related post on X. This feat was achieved in under 24 hours, so we can only imagine what the numbers will be like when Rockstar Games posts the GTA 6 trailer next month. Whether this will reveal the GTA 6 release date is unknown, but we speculate it won’t be until at least early 2025 when the game is ready to arrive. However, we’d love Rockstar Games to surprise everyone with a far earlier launch date.
The post has yet to break into the top 30 most liked X (Twitter) posts of all time, which currently has K-Pop icons BTS sitting at the bottom following their interaction with fellow pop sensation Lizzo, according to Wikipedia and Statista. But what will that eventual GTA 6 trailer bring us?
Well, following the unfortunate slate of GTA 6 leaks from last year, the location of the next entry is believed to be set in Vice City. As the HD era of the franchise has overhauled Liberty City and San Andreas in GTA 4 and GTA 5 respectively, it makes sense for Vice City to get the same treatment. With the HD era taking place in a new continuity, we’re curious to see how Rockstar Games pays homage to GTA Vice City, and characters like Tommy Vercetti (voiced by the late Ray Liotta).
The location has become a favorite with fans over the years, mostly due to its impeccable atmosphere and accurate, albeit heightened, depiction of 1980s culture. Not to mention the amazing soundtrack featuring Electric Light Orchestra, The Cars, Hall and Oates, and Lionel Richie. Just pure vibes. We’ve already had the GTA 10-year anniversary this year, and now, a new era is dawning.
