If you’ve been umm’ing and ahh’ing about jumping into this year’s FIFA – sorry, this year’s EA Sports FC game – on Xbox, then you’re in luck. As part of this weekend’s Xbox Free Play Days – which this time features seven top sports titles that you can jump into from now until January 15 – you’ll be able to strap on your cleats and get a taste of the on-pitch action in FC 24. That is, if you have an Xbox Game Pass Core or Ultimate subscription.
Alongside FC 24, Xbox Series X|S players will be able to sample some of the other best sports games out there, including EA Sports PGA Tour, EA Sports WRC, F1 23, Madden 24, NHL 24, and Super Mega Baseball 4. If you’re on Xbox One you won’t be left twiddling your thumbsticks, either, as you’ll still be able to try your hand at FC 24, Madden 24, and NHL 24.
The timing for FC 24 to briefly become free-to-play on Xbox is fortunate. EA is currently running a promotion that will give you a free UEFA EURO 24 player in FC 24 Ultimate Team if you play the game by January 16. Try it out, fall in love, buy it, and you’ve got a top-tier player in the popular wallet-pinching mode that you can start building your team around – not bad. It’s almost time for Team of the Year as well, which is often regarded as the most exciting (and, for EA, the most lucrative) Ultimate Team promotion of the year.
In our 8/10 FC 24 review, this writer remarks that, despite it being the first EA soccer game without the FIFA branding, this year’s title “retains everything that’s kept people coming back to EA’s soccer series for the past 30 years.” Thanks to engine improvements and the introduction of the FC 24 PlayStyles system, players look and feel much closer to their real-world counterparts than ever before. Meanwhile, the addition of FC 24 Evolutions will help you form a mighty Ultimate Team squad at a more modest cost than previous games.
If you enjoy your free weekend and want to snag FC 24 for a fraction of its $69.99 RRP, we’ve got you covered. Over on Amazon, you can currently pick it up for 50% off. We have seen it going for below $30 in the lead-up to Christmas, but realistically this is the best price you’ll be able to get it for this side of the new year.
If you’re curious about the other titles available this weekend then be sure to check out our F1 23 review and Madden 24 review. Suffice to say, we’re big sports fans over here on The Loadout, so we’re equally excited to get stuck in with everything Xbox is serving up.
