Exoprimal player count milestone means you’re getting a free skin

Capcom's co-op shooter Exoprimal has hit a huge player count milestone so the developer is giving everyone on Xbox and PS5 a free Skywave skin to celebrate.

Capcom’s Exoprimal, which is currently one of the best co-op games you can play with your friends (or, anyone really) right now, has hit a rather massive milestone. The Exoprimal player count has hit a million just 11 days after launch – which is really impressive when you consider how much competition there is when it comes to keeping someone’s attention. This might be one of the best Xbox Game Pass games out there right now, but there’s a lot of great games to play. To celebrate, though, we’re all getting a free Exoprimal Skywave skin in the next major update.

That’s right, to celebrate hitting a total of 1,000,000 players, Exoprimal developer Capcom is giving everyone a free Skywave skin in the upcoming August 16 title update. We don’t know too much more about what’s coming in this next title update, if you’re curious, but we do know what the new Skywave skin looks like – and, it’s fine?

As you can see for yourself down below, this skin is a fairly basic one – so, we don’t think it’s going to be a high rarity reward. However, the color scheme it applies is a nice one and we can see this being a popular alternative to the default appearance this exosuit offers.

Although, you’re not alone if you think this is a little disappointing. Our Exoprimal tier list ranks the Skywave exosuit as one of the weakest of the bunch – even for a Support exosuit. It’s decent-enough at disrupting enemies and dinosaurs, but has a slow rate of fire and can’t really stand alone as a solo support – unless you’re really good, and your team is good at keeping themselves alive.

There are a few comments on Exoprimal Reddit threads like this one complaining about the fact that the skin is for one of the worst exosuits in the game, too. If you don’t play as Skywave, you’re really not getting much at all from this, to be fair. However, even if this is a thinly-veiled attempt at getting players to play this underused exosuit, it’s free content. So, it’s not all bad.

If you’re planning on practicing with this exosuit so you have a reason to use the free skin when it arrives, you can check out the best Exoprimal Skywave build here – and, everything you need to know about all the Exoprimal game modes and mission types right here.
