Elden Ring Starting Gifts and Keepsakes: A player can be seen wielding a sword

Elden Ring starts you off with a character creation screen where you get to see the full Elden Ring class list and toy around with the customisation options on offer in the game. But, Elden Ring’s starting gifts and keepsakes are what can give you that early game edge during the opening section of the game in Limgrave.

Whether it be boosting your HP, giving you one of the all-important  Stonesword Key, or some inventory items to help you create consumables, there are a lot of different starting gifts in the game that serve different uses. Each one will fit a different type of player, although some of them are definitely more valuable than others.

So, if you are looking for a full Elden Ring starting gifts and keepsakes guide, highlighting the ones that you can choose at the beginning of the game, then you are in the right place!

Crimson Amber Medallion

The Crimson Amber Medallion is one of the better starting gifts in Elden Ring. This Talisman can be equipped and will boost your maximum HP, which is a vital boost at the beginning of the game.

Land’s Between Rune

The Land’s Between Rune can be consumed to acquire a sum of Runes, which can then be used on levelling up or to purchase gear from a Merchant.

Golden Seed

The Golden Seed is the strongest starting gift and keepsake. This can be used at a Site of Grace to boost the number of Flask charges you have to restore HP and FP.

Fanged Imp Ashes

The Fanged Imp Ashes are one of the Spirit Ashes in the game and the earliest one you can find in the game.

Cracked Pot

The Cracked Pot is one of the worst starting gifts and keepsakes in Elden Ring. It is used to craft throwing pots, such as those that deal Holy and Fire damage. However, you can find a lot of these in the world, so you shouldn’t waste your Keepsake on them.

Stonesword Key

Stonesword Keys are used to open Imp Gargoyle locks which are fog gated areas throughout the world that hold dungeons, loot, and some of the best weapons in Elden Ring.

Betwitching Branch

We don’t yet know what the Bewitching Branch does, but we will update this guide with more information when we have it.

Boiled Prawn

The Boiled Prawn is a consumable that negates damage when used, which can help you out in a tough fight. Although, it isn’t necessarily worth using your slot for.

Shibiri’s Woe

Shibiri’s Woe will increase madness buildup on enemies. While powerful, chances are you won’t have a lot of madness-inflicting items or weapons at this point in the game, so you will want to select something else.
