As is the case in most FromSoftware titles, Elden Ring will feature a class system that lets players pick a class based on their preferred playstyle. While they all have their individual strengths, there are some key options you should choose if you are looking for Elden Ring’s best class.
Historically, magic has been on the weaker side of recent Souls games, with players favouring the meta weapons that scale in both strength and dexterity. Therefore, the best class to go for would usually be those that offer high stats in those attributes alongside a healthy dose of vitality to tank some early game hits. However, in Elden Ring there is a heightened focus on spellcasting, making them simultaneously easier to use and much stronger.
But, even with that extra strength magic has in this game, base melee damage still wins out. And, from the full Elden Ring class list choosing Elden Ring’s best class is an easy one.
Elden Ring best class
Elden Ring’s best class is the Vagabond. With a strong starting weapon and high stats across the key ones that matter: Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity, the Vagabond cements itself as offering the best choice for new and returning players.
This class will allow you to eventually specialise and choose which style of weapon you prefer, whether it be a dexterity-based weapon or a strength-based weapon.
While it does come with lower Faith and Intelligence stats, these can be upgraded slightly, allowing you to test out some of the base Incantations and Sorceries in the game. And then, from there you can focus your upgrades on these stats if you are particularly keen to wield magic in the game.
But, for most players melee damage will be the main focus and that is what the Vagabond is all about.
That covers why the Vagabond is the best Elden Ring class. For more tips and tricks, check out our list of some of the best weapons in the game and our Elden Ring tips for new players, which has a lot of useful information.
