What is Overpower damage in Diablo 4? With so many secondary damage stats and status effects in the game, it’s not easy to keep track of what each one does, especially with more complex stats like Overpower. Luckily for you, this guide covers the ins and outs of Diablo 4 Overpower damage so you know exactly what it is and how it works.

Overpower is just one of the many Diablo 4 stats that you’ll want to get to grips with, similar to the Diablo 4 lucky hit stat. This is even more important if you want to have the best Diablo 4 build for your class to compete in the Diablo 4 endgame, as these effects can be very powerful when used properly.

Diablo 4 Overpower damage explained

In Diablo 4, Overpower damage effects deal bonus damage based on the sum of your current Life and Fortified Life. All attacks have a base 3% chance to Overpower.

In other words, Overpower combines your current health value with your Fortified health to deal bonus damage to enemies. This makes it a highly potent status effect for builds that can use it properly. You can tell when you deal Overpower damage through the light blue damage numbers that appear.

It’s worth noting that you can’t increase your basic chance to Overpower, but special effects can guarantee an Overpowered attack. Furthermore, damage over time, passive abilities, and Channeled skills cannot Overpower. However, while you can’t increase your base chance to Overpower, you can increase your Overpower Damage stat through Willpower. This will make the effect even more potent when it triggers.

The Barbarian, Druid, and Necromancer will see particularly strong use out of Overpower damage, as each has several skills capable of guaranteeing an Overpower attack. For example, the Druid’s Enhanced Pulverize skill will result in the skill dealing Overpower damage every 12 seconds while you remain Healthy – more than 80% of max Life. Likewise, after casting the Necromancer’s Supernatural Blood Lance eight times, the next cast is guaranteed to Overpower.
