There will be no shortage of Diablo 4 bosses and evil monsters out to get you when the Diablo 4 release date arrives, and likely even more once the Diablo 4 Season 1 release date lands as well, expanding the game further. Don’t leave the safety of the cities without the best Diablo 4 build for each class ready to go.

Diablo 4 bosses

Here are all the currently confirmed Diablo 4 bosses:

  • X’Fal, the Scarred Baron – prologue
  • Vhenard – Act 1
  • Tchort, Herald of Lilith – Act 1
  • Lilith’s Lament – Act 1
  • Ashava the Pestilent – world boss
  • The Butcher – random elite dungeon boss

These are all the bosses we had access to during the Diablo 4 beta period, which included the Fractured Peaks region, one of the Diablo 4 world bosses, and a significant chunk of the beginning of the game’s story. This meant there were several bosses to find and fight, some of which during the main quest, like X’Fal, the first boss you’ll fight, or Lilith’s Lament at the end of Act 1.

Perhaps most excitingly, we were also able to fight Ashava the Pestilent, a deadly dragon-like enemy and our first experience with the world bosses. World bosses are a challenging activity that will put your build to the test alongside other players. They will also form part of the Diablo 4 endgame, so it’s worth taking these bosses on.

X’Fal, the Scarred Baron

Shortly upon entering Sanctuary for the first time, you’ll face X’Fal, the Scarred Baron. They are your first experience with bosses in Diablo 4, taking place during the Darkness Within quest as part of the game’s prologue. This large beast has a wide array of attacks at its disposal, from sweeping AoE strikes using a club to summoning minions to help. Despite its size, X’Fal can also be surprisingly mobile so stay on your toes.

Vhenard

The Vhenard boss fight, which you’ll encounter during The Cost of Knowledge quest in Act 1, can be quite tricky thanks to the small arena. Luckily, you’ll have Neyrelle by your side as you take this boss down, so you won’t have to do it alone.

Vhenard has multiple stages, including creating an impenetrable barrier requiring you to first eliminate the tough Hell Spawn and Pit Lord enemies they summon. Be sure to stay mobile and bring AoE abilities with you to take these mobs down.

Tchort, Herald of Lilith

Tchort, Herald of Lilith is a boss fight in the Act 1 quest Fledgling Scholar. Tchort is a highly mobile boss that will teleport around the arena, firing off deadly projectile attacks. During the encounter, several fire orbs will spawn around the room that will cause explosions after a set time. Either destroy these orbs or avoid the zone to save yourself from unnecessary damage.

Lilith’s Lament

You’ll encounter the Lilith’s Lament bossfight in the Descent quest near the end of Act 1. This monstrosity of blood and guts can be quite the challenge given how chaotic the fight can get.

It will spawn a variety of AoE attacks on the ground, such as waves and puddles of blood, that you will have to avoid. Having mobility skills like teleports or making good use of the standard dodge will certainly come in handy during this fight. Meanwhile, Lilith’s Lament is also attacking you directly with a range of projectile attacks. Stay on your toes and deal as much damage as you can when you get an opening.

Diablo 4 bosses: Ashava the Pestilent attacking players.

Ashava the Pestilent

Ashava the Pestilent is the world boss in the Fractured Peaks. This boss will require good knowledge of the core mechanics, a strong build, and other players fighting alongside you to take down.

With two large blades, Ashava is capable of highly damaging sweeping attacks and ground slams. They’re also surprisingly quick, despite their monstrous size. Stay alert of the AoE poison effect and the telegraphed attacks so you can avoid damage, while taking any opportunity you get to go on the offensive.

The Butcher

In Diablo 4, The Butcher, the iconic enemy from previous games returns as a random boss that can invade a dungeon run. If you’re unlucky enough to have this hulking monstrosity invade, you will be in for a chance of earning The Butcher’s Cleaver, a unique one-handed axe that will be great for the best Diablo 4 Barbarian build. With incredibly high health and damage, The Butcher is a boss to be feared, at least while you’re still levelling up your character and perfecting your builds.
