Destiny 2 Strand is the brand new element introduced in Lightfall and is the key to helping us defeat The Witness and Callus’ forces as they take over Neomuna and seek to bring an end to The Last City and humanity itself. But, Strand is different in a number of ways compared to other elements in Destiny.
As the second Darkness-based element Guardians are able to wield, it is an element that has never been discovered before by anyone else. And, alongside pretty big lore implications, it also will allow you to have fun in new ways in Destiny 2 thanks to new supers and movement options. This will undoubtedly change the Destiny 2 Titan build, Destiny 2 Warlock build, and Destiny 2 Hunter build you have for your Guardians.
Everything to know about Destiny 2 Strand
Strand is an elemental manifestation of the Darkness in Destiny 2, introduced in Lightfall. It is a form of psychic energy that Guardians discover for the first time and are able to peak into the Strand matrix and weave weapons and abilities from the energy. Strand marks the second Darkness element in Destiny 2 after the introduction of Stasis in Beyond Light.
Strand will be a brand new element in the game, with new subclasses for the Titan, Hunter, and Warlock. It isn’t yet known if enemies will be able to deal Strand damage or if we will have Strand weapons. We are the first people in the universe to wield Strand, but we wouldn’t put it past the Witness getting his mysterious mitts onto it at some point during the Lightfall campaign. All classes will be able to use Strand to increase their movement around the environment with a grapple that can be attached to anywhere in the world, which will undoubtedly make combat in PvP and exploration in PvE more complex and interesting.
Bungie will be revealing a lot more about the subclasses and Strand as a whole as we approach the release date of the expansion. But, for now, you can get a glimpse at Strand in the gameplay trailer for Lightfall below:
That covers what you need to know about Destiny 2 Strand and how it works in Lightfall and the rest of the game. Be sure to stay updated on the latest details when it comes to the new element and any changes Bungie make as we move ever closer to the conclusion of the light and dark saga with Destiny 2 The Final Shape’s release date in 2024.
