Find out everything you need to know about the Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep guide, loot table, story and lore, and what it may mean for the future.

Destiny 2 Ghosts of the Deep: Simmumah can be seen

The Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep dungeon is here and there is a lot to get from it. From the lore behind what is going on within the depths and halls of the hive structures to our Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep guide and the Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep loot table which has some exciting new rewards, there is a lot here.

Alongside this activity in Season of the Deep, you can also spend your time delving into the depths of Titan in new activities, such as Destiny 2 Salvage, which is a fun 6-player matchmade adventure that uses a lot of the same mechanics as Ghosts Of The Deep does. Plus Destiny 2 Deep Dives offer a lengthier more intense challenge. But, Ghosts Of The Deep are where the most exciting rewards are found.

Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep guide

Destiny 2’s Ghosts Of The deep dungeon is broken down into these encounters:

  • Hive Ritual
  • Jumping Puzzle
  • Ecthar, The Shield Of Savathun fight
  • Simmumah, Ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer fight

The Hive Ritual encounter

Upon spawning in you will find a set of statues and approaching them will begin the encounter. The goal is to insert Vestiges of Light into each of the statues, which can be done pretty easily.

Look around and kill yellow-bar ogres. Where the ogre was killed you will see a green Hive goo trail which you should follow until you see one of the Hive symbols that were prominent during The Witch Queen’s campaign and activities.

Continue onwards until you kill the Hive Guardian at the end, crushing its Ghost. Whoever destroys its Ghost will get the Vestige of Light. Then, head all the way back to the statues, kill the Veilweaver Wizard, and interact with the light where it died to get Deepsight. From there, dunk the Vestige in the statue that has the symbol which matched the one you saw earlier.

Rinse and repeat two more times to complete the encounter.

Jumping Puzzle encounter

Once completed, you will have a jumping puzzle to complete. Generally, you want to head down and find ways to keep heading down. Overall, this is pretty straightforward and you should be able to navigate it easily.

Ecthar, The Shield Of Savathun encounter

In order to damage Ecthar you will need to first remove his shields. In order to do that, find three Blistered Knights in the room and kill them, before then killing a Keeper of the Deep ogre.

Have one person interact with the Deepsight to reveal three symbols on the wall nearby. Drop down into the water and touch the three runes that match the ones above. Ecthar will also be down here so be sure to keep running as fast as possible.

Once all three have been found, jump up using the air vent and kill the Lucent Hive, obtaining a Vestige of Light. Dunk the Vestige in the statues around the room, spawning a knight. From there, kill the knight and stand in its green goo pile to be able to damage Ecthar.

Repeat until the boss is dead, and then destroy their ghost to end the fight.

Simmumah, Ur-Nokru, Lucent Necromancer encounter

The layout of this arena consists of the core main room and three alternate side rooms you can access by passing through a water wall. In the main room, you will find three parts of Oryx, tThe Taken King, who the Hive are attempting to resurrect. When on the body parts, a green circle will form.

Use the Deepsight to reveal a triangle connecting three of the body parts. These are the body parts you will need to complete the following instructions on to reach the damage phase.

Stand on one of the body parts where Simmumah isn’t near and kill a knight mini-boss when it is within the green circle. This will cause a small green circle to spawn. Head to the opposite side of that green circle and look through it at the Oryx symbol which is next to the body part you were just on. This will cause a Rune to spawn. Repeat this two more times.

With three symbols, each person goes into one of the side rooms. One person goes to the room by each of the hands, and the third goes to the one by his head. When in the side room, kill the Lucent Hive mini-boss and make note of the Rune above their Ghost before you squish it.

Head back outside, grab Deepsight, and dunk your obtained Vestige by the body part with the Rune that matched the Lucent Hive you killed. Complete this for all the Runes and then you can stand in any of the green goo piles to damage the boss. Repeat until Simmumah is dead and then crush the ghost to complete the encounter.

That’s it. Overall a pretty simple dungeon with some fun encounters. You can also watch a video guide if you’d prefer that from ‘Fallout Plays’ below.

Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep loot table

The Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep loot table is:

  • No Survivors (sub-machine gun), New Pacific Epitaph (grenade launcher), Cold Comfort (rocket launcher), Greaves of the Taken King (leg armor), Helm of the Taken King (helm armor), Gauntlets of the Taken King (arms armor) – Hive Ritual
  • Cold Comfort (rocket launcher), Greasy Luck (glaive), Plate of the Taken King (chest armor) – Ecthar encounter
  • The Navigator (Exotic trace rifle), New Pacific Epitaph (grenade launcher), No Survivors (sub-machine gun), Greasy Luck (glaive), Greaves of the Taken King (leg armor), Helm of the Taken King (helm armor) – Summumah

As you can see, some solid options for you. Of course, the prized possession in this dungeon is the brand-new Exotic. Destiny 2 The Navigator is a really interesting weapon. It is a Strand Trace Rifle, the first of its kind, and will grant Woven Mail when firing the weapon at an ally while severing the target when dealing damage.

Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep lore

The lore backdrop to the Ghosts Of The Deep dungeon is that the Hive have been at work, planning to resurrect Oryx, The Taken King. By delving into the deep and stopping Simmumah, you effectively end that ritual and the Hive’s attempts at trying to bring the god back.

That covers the Destiny 2 Ghosts Of The Deep Dungeon and everything you need to know to get through it. For even more on how to complete challenging encounters like this, take a look at our Destiny 2 Titan build, Destiny 2 Hunter build, and Destiny 2 Warlock builds guides.
