Call of Duty has just dropped a new Warzone update that buffs several key players in the close-range meta ahead of the MW3 reveal on PS5, Xbox, and PC.

For some reason, Call of Duty has opted to sneak in another Warzone update ahead of the upcoming MW3 reveal event and it’s going to be an important one if you struggle in close-quarters combat in Al Mazrah – or if you enjoy stalking the streets of Vondel with your fireteam. Why is that? Well, it’s because this new Warzone update touches on some of the best Warzone guns at the moment – a number of those dominating the close-range meta in Modern Warfare 2.

As you can see in these Warzone patch notes, your best Warzone MX Guardian loadout and your best Warzone Fennec 45 loadout will be much more effective going forward. Both weapons have seen their Maximum Damage increased alongside Close-Mid Damage increases. You also may want to check any of your loadouts using some of the best Warzone shotguns; the Expedite 12 and Lockwood 300 are also getting damage buffs.

The new FR Avancer is also getting a bit of a buff, but this one’s an interesting one. While this gun’s Maximum Damage is being decreased, its Close-Mid Damage, Head Damage Multiplayer, and Upper Torso Damage Multiplier are all increasing. So, as long as you land your shots, this should be even more effective than it was before.

If you like your long-range firefights, you’ll be pleased to know that quite a few of the best Warzone battle rifles have been updated too – although, it’s not all good news. The FTAC Recon, Lachmann-762, and SO-14 have all been buffed. However, the TAQ-V has been nerfed across the board, with all damage output variables and multipliers decreased.

The Warzone meta is always shifting, but it’s hard to deny that this update isn’t geared around trying to increase the variety of options available in the current close-range meta. We know this is trying to be one of the best competitive FPS games out there, but weapons like the MX Guardian and Fennec 45 already feel powerful-enough. You have to wonder why this update was introduced – especially now, on the eve of a major PvE event in-game.

If you want to know how to get your hands on this battle royale’s newest gun, though, you can find out how to unlock the M13C in Warzone right here. We can imagine that this is going to be a bit of a beast in close-range gunfights, too. So, it’ll be worth having.
