Call of Duty Warzone players might be saying goodbye to Godzilla and King Kong, as Operation Monarch is coming to an end, but there’s still a lot to look forward to in the battle royale shooter right now – with the Warzone Season 3 Reloaded update just dropping. Of course, the main talking points are the new underground transport system coming to Caldera, the significant Stim nerf, and the addition of the Serpentine perk. However, one of the most exciting changes is actually hidden deep in the Warzone Season 3 Reloaded patch notes. The AX-50 has been buffed and now it’s one of the best Warzone guns to use at long-range.

The Modern Warfare sniper rifle is often left out of conversation when it comes to the Warzone meta, but it’s far from a bad weapon when it comes to talking about long-range options. However, the recent patch notes have revealed that this weapon has had its max damage range increased from 1375 to 1600. This is something that has made the AX-50 a “hitscan” in the eyes of ‘JGOD’ – and, he might be onto something you know.

Before we continue, if you’re wondering what the term ‘hitscan’ actually means, you’re not alone.

This term is essentially used to describe weapons in first-person shooters that, when fired, hit almost instantly – without any projectile travel time or bullet drop. If you’re looking for examples, Halo Infinite’s Assault Rifle or Cassidy’s revolver in Overwatch fit the bill – and, now, it looks like the AX-50 does too.

If you want to see this AX-50 in action, you can check out a few clips of it below. As you can see in JGOD’s tweet, he explains that the sniper rifle has an increased range of around 400m before bullet drop mechanics start to take effect. As the footage shows, this is quite far – so, you’ll need your high-magnification scopes to make the most of it.

Interestingly JGOD wasn’t the first person to actually spot this – he himself attributes that to ‘Symthic’, who’s tweet claiming that the AX-50 is now a hitscan weapon you can see below:

While you’re still going to need to hit your shots while using the AX-50, you’ll find that they’ll pack more of a punch going forwards.
