Warzone 2 Season 2 nerfs the RPK, Fennec, and many more

Some major weapon balancing changes are coming to Warzone 2 Season 2, with popular picks like the RPK getting hit with some big nerfs.

Warzone 2 Season 2 has arrived, and with it come a swathe of buffs and nerfs as part of a much-needed weapon balancing update. Looking at the Warzone 2 patch notes, it seems that the nerfs certainly outweigh the buffs here, and some of the first season’s most popular guns are among those getting turned down a notch.

Two stalwarts of the Warzone 2 meta are the RPK and the Fennec – a deadly combo that give you devastating damage at long range with the former and at close range with the latter. For Season 2, both guns are getting significant nerfs to stop them dominating players’ best Warzone 2 loadouts.

The RPK has seen a reduction to its “damage ranges” and its “mid and long-range damage”. It’s also had it’s ADS time and ADS movement speed nerfed as well. No exact values for any of the changes were included in the patch notes, so we’ll have to wait for players to use the RPK in Al Mazrah and Ashika Island to know thow severe these nerfs are.

The Fennec has also received similar treatment – its standard damage and its headshot damage have both been nerfed, and a minimum damage value against armoured opponents has been added.

As mentioned, we’ll know soon just how much these weapons have been impacted once players report back, but for now, it’s safe to say that any RPK Warzone 2 loadout and Fennec Warzone 2 loadout you want to run will not be as powerful as it used to be.

Other weapons to receive some nerfs include the Singal 50 sniper rifle and the Minibak SMG. Akimbo X13 Auto pistols have also been nerfed, but the pistol’s single form has actually been buffed.

While a weapon balancing update was long overdue, it’s all the more important now we know a Warzone 2 Ranked mode is finally arriving later this year.

There are also lots of changes outside of weapon balancing as well. Gulags are now 1v1 instead of 2v2, Counter-UAVs have been added, and Warzone 2 even has a spawn protection system now too.
