Whether you’re a fan of the open-world format of Modern Warfare 3 Zombies or not, it has quickly proven a fantastic place for Call of Duty players to earn XP and level up their favorite weapons for multiplayer and Warzone. This statement is especially true when it comes to the incredible Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Sentry Gun XP exploit – although, we do have a little bit of bad news if you’re hoping to take advantage of it anytime soon. Call of Duty has fully disabled Sentry Guns from MW3.
If you want to make sure you have all the best MW3 guns fully leveled up and ready to go for Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer, but you don’t want to struggle through rounds of Team Deathmatch and Hardpoint without one of the best MW3 loadouts to hand, you really should be playing Zombies. With endless hordes to mow down and more than enough bonus objectives to complete to bolster your XP earnings, this game mode really is the perfect place to rank up your weapons without risking your kill-death ratio. Preparing for any changes in the MW3 meta really has never been easier.
However, as a place where you can earn XP fast, it’s getting worse by the day. Call of Duty’s removal of Sentry Guns just hours after the impressive (and valuable) exploit was discovered is a definite sign of that – even though it was inevitable. We know players breaking your game to farm XP faster than you want them to isn’t exactly a great sign that your game is going to be regarded as one of the best FPS games moving forward, but we can’t help but wish Call of Duty gave us all just a little more time with this exploit.
As you can see for yourself below, the Sentry Gun exploit essentially involves duplicating the Scorestreak by dropping a Sentry Gun at the same time as you place it. This would allow players to decimate hordes of enemies at an impressive efficiency, all the while earning weapon XP for the gun they have equipped.
While a rather simple exploit, players earning impressive amounts of XP in an instant wasn’t actually the only issue with this Sentry Gun exploit.
With players taking advantage of the ability to place a near-endless amount of Sentry Guns in each game, other players were often finding themselves suffering from severe connection issues and server drops. This was undoubtedly due to the fact that Modern Warfare 3 was trying to deal with the fact that so many Sentry Guns were active at any one time, on top of rapidly respawning enemies, and – of course – dealing with the players running around elsewhere in Urzikstan as well.
So, in an effort to combat that and patch out the exploit, Call of Duty is removing Sentry Guns from Modern Warfare 3 indefinitely – and there’s no word on when they’ll be back just yet.
If you’re wondering why Sentry Guns are missing from multiplayer, too, despite the fact that this is about Zombies, you might be surprised to learn that Call of Duty players were also finding ways to make themselves both invisible and invincible using Sentry Guns in multiplayer. As the Modern Warfare 3 Trello board shows, though, this is something that’s currently under investigation.
We can imagine that both Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch are actively working to resolve these issues, but this could mean that we’re waiting a lot longer than initially expected to see Sentry Guns back in Modern Warfare 3. It’s impossible to know without knowing the severity of the issues with the Scorestreak, but we could be waiting a week – maybe more – before we see them return.
If you’re sitting there wondering if there’s any other way you can boost your XP earnings while playing Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, now that the aforementioned Sentry Gun exploit is seemingly off the table, you’ll be pleased to know that there is another MW3 Zombies XP farm method you can check out next time you play. This one is a little more dangerous, and you won’t earn as much XP as quickly as you would with the Sentry Gun exploit, but it’s the best we’ve got right now. It also doesn’t take advantage of any glitches or bugs, so it should be safe and available to use for the foreseeable future.
If you want to make your time playing Zombies a little easier, though, you can also earn free perks in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies by completing a series of small easter eggs right now. We know earning perks through challenges isn’t the easiest, especially when it comes to tasks like finding the MW3 Zombies Mercenary Convoy, but this is a great way to save some Essence for trips to the Buy Station and Pack-a-Punch machine.
