Your time has come, RPG fans. Larian Studios is riding one heck of a high following The Game Awards, which saw Baldur’s Gate 3 sweep across multiple categories, taking on plenty of 2023’s biggest titles. But aside from collecting an impressive amount of wins, Xbox players can now get in on the fun. One of the best games of 2023 is finally arriving in the home of all things Microsoft, as the BG3 Xbox version is now available to download.
That’s right, you can now class Baldur’s Gate 3 as one of the best Xbox games around. Word surrounding the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date has been the topic of conversation for months when it comes to one of the year’s best RPG games. It is one of many new PS5 games you can pick up, and has been since June, but developer Larian Studios needed a little longer to bring it over to Xbox Series X|S.
While the game sadly isn’t on Xbox Game Pass as you may have hoped, it is nonetheless live now on the Microsoft digital storefront, following a surprise release during The Games Awards ceremony on Thursday, December 7, 2023. The annual showcase from Geoff Keighley proved to be a fantastic night for Larian Studios, as the studio and the game’s vocal talent attributed to a total of 6 awards. Baldur’s Gate 3 specifically added these accolades to its award roster:
- Game of The Year
- Best RPG
- Best Community Support
- Best Multiplayer
- The Players’ Voice Award
- Best Performance (Neil Newbon)
An excellent inning for Baldur’s Gate 3, we think, although it had some pretty stiff competition from one of the best horror games of the decade – Alan Wake 2. The latest game from Remedy Entertainment adds 3 awards to the trophy case, taking home Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative. However, the spirit of Baldur’s Gate 3 was heavily felt during the event, gaining considerable cheers at every mention.
Taking the Best RPG trophy home away from its main rival Starfield is no easy feat, leading to 2 major PS5 and Xbox exclusives leaving The Game Awards with nothing at all. The hype for the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has captivated fans strongly, with some of them spending a combined total of over 8,000 years creating their characters before the game even launched. Now that is true dedication.
