After numerous delays getting in the way of the fun for Xbox players, Game of the Year winner Baldur’s Gate 3 has finally landed on Microsoft’s console following The Game Awards 2023. To celebrate, Larian Studios has opened up the Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitch Drops vault, giving BG3 Xbox and PS5 fans the opportunity to get some free limited-time rewards. Everybody loves free items, right?
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been the talk of the town after swooping in to take home the trophy at TGA, beating out the likes of Alan Wake 2 and Spider-Man 2, some of the best games of all time. Ultimately though, Larian won out with one of the best RPG games out there, so whether you’ve been playing since its PC release or jumped in later with PS5 and now Xbox following the hype, there are free rewards up for grabs that you don’t want to miss.
Acclaimed developer Larian Studios revealed on Twitter that “To celebrate Baldur’s Gate 3’s launch on Xbox, [it’s] brought back Twitch Drops”. Having been previously available at the game’s original launch on PC, many players will have missed out on these limited-time rewards, particularly PS5 and Xbox players.
While these rewards could, in fact, be earned before the release of BG3 on console, as “Owning Baldur’s Gate 3 is not required to gain access to Twitch Drops”, we doubt most console players would have planned ahead given the staggered and delayed launch of BG3 across PS5 and Xbox. Unfortunately, these are the same rewards as the first BG3 Twitch Drops event, so you might already have them. Fingers crossed Larian will add more new clothing items in the future.
Luckily for you, Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitch Drops return from Monday, December 11, 2023, until Friday, January 5, 2024, requiring players to watch just two hours of BG3 on Twitch through a drop-enabled streamer to earn the one-of-a-kind Camp Clothing Set. Make sure you sign into your Larian account and connect it to your Twitch account to be eligible for BG3 Twitch Drop rewards. Once you’ve linked your accounts and watched a total of two hours, claim your Drops in the Drops Inventory on Twitch and then head over to your Camp Chest in-game.
The BG3 Twitch Drop pack includes the following items:
- Streamhopper Loafers
- Channeller’s Trunks
- Periwinkles Undergarments
- Chatterbox’s Tabard
While at first glance you might think “No thank you, purple’s not my style”, worry not. The default Twitch-purple coloring is a little garish and could break your immersion, but you don’t have to stick with it – fashion is the true endgame, after all. As with other armor and clothing, you can dye the BG3 Twitch Drops outfit to change its color and, as Twitter user ‘modthryo’ rightly notes, “You can get some super cute combinations” that are much more fitting with the aesthetic of Baldur’s Gate 3.
To dye your armor, get your hands on some colored dye (from exploring or merchants) and select ‘Use’ in your inventory. From here, select the gear piece and ‘Combine’ the dye and clothing, consuming the dye item to give you some new drip. Sadly, looking fly won’t actually help your Charisma skill checks.
So, just in time for the BG3 Xbox release, it’s time to acquire some exclusive Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitch Drop goodies, whether you’re a new arrival with team green or a veteran on PS5 or PC. Beware though, there is a BG3 Xbox save bug that could cause you some trouble, though your Drops will be safe. Once you’re done spending 8,000 years in the BG3 character creator sculpting the perfect hero and kitting out the best Baldur’s Gate 3 class, you’ll almost be ready to don some regal Twitch attire.
