Love is in the air in Baldur’s Gate 3’s new PS5 and Xbox patch

BG3 Patch 6 is bringing with it a real Valentine’s Day treat for players hoping to lay down some serious game on their PS5 and Xbox companions.

Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 6: Astarion blushing with a great big grin on his face

Schmoozing your Baldur’s Gate 3 babygirl is about to get a whole lot better on PS5 and Xbox. According to developer Larian, 2023’s Game of the Year will be receiving “improved smooches” as part of its newest update, BG3 Patch 6. And it looks like it’s going to arrive in time for Valentine’s Day.

“Love is in the air in Faerûn, and we’ve made improvements to locking lips with your romantic partner,” Larian tweets enthusiastically. “Releasing next week, Patch 6 includes improved smooches, new camp idle animations, new Legendary Actions in Honour Mode, and plenty of bug fixes.”

In the attached video we can see dreamboats Astarion and Halsin sharing a kiss, puckering up before the wood elf punctuates the tender moment with a little forehead kiss – what a treat. Already one of the best RPG games of all time, Larian’s really doing the most to make sure all the lonely hearts out there can manifest their love authentically in-game this Valentine’s.

The studio says the patch is going to be a “hefty one,” so make sure you’ve got plenty of space on your best PS5 SSD and best Xbox expansion cards. You don’t want to miss out on arguably the most important update the game’s received to date. While being able to make out with your favorite companion better is the headline act, clear improvements are being made elsewhere that demand your drive space.

Larian has been working hard to ensure its magnum opus makes for the most enjoyable experience possible. Last month it finally got to the bottom of a destructive Xbox save game bug alongside Microsoft, quelling the port’s biggest issue since it stealth dropped back in December. Though BG3 spent a great deal of time in early access ahead of its full release, it’s great to see that Larian isn’t resting on its laurels – even after all of the success the studio has deservedly had.
