Baldur’s Gate 3 sets South Park straight on this PS5 save issue

Baldur's Gate 3 is so popular that South Park is picking a bone with Baldur's Gate 3 cross progression, prompting Larian Studios to comment.

Baldur's Gate 3 cross progression cross save

When you’re captivated by a game as huge as Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll probably want to continue the experience wherever you can. It is a blast roaming around the Forgotten Realms on PS5, but if you’re also looking to take the action over to PC, you might be wondering if Baldur’s Gate 3 cross progression exists. Funnily enough, so does Eric Cartman from South Park.

While Baldur’s Gate 3 crossplay lets you team up with your friends on other platforms, you probably don’t want to start over again in one of the best RPG games of the year. In a recent special episode of South Park titled Joining The Panderverse, an alternative version of Eric Cartman faces a dliema: “I’m already like 50 hours into Baldur’s Gate 3, but it’s saying that I have to start a new game. Do save games not cross between multiple universe?”

Cartman’s long-time friend, Stan Marsh, jokes that “[Baldur’s Gate 3] save games don’t even cross between PC and PS5, why would they cross between universes?” Well, despite some confusion in the small town of South Park, developer Larian Studios takes the amusing clip in stride to provide some clarification on Baldur’s Gate 3 cross progression. “Hello South Park, while Baldur’s Gate 3 saves can’t cross multiversal barriers, we can confirm they do actually transfer between PC and PS5!”

And just like that, any query you have regarding cross progression is cleared up. All it took was Eric Cartman’s frustrations for Larian Studios to offer a comment on it. Everyone say ‘thank you Eric Cartman’. Whether this is the case with the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date remains to be detailed, but we speculate that Larian Studios will apply the same parameters there too.

What we really want to know, though, is exactly what Eric Cartman’s Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough is like. Which one of the best Baldur’s Gate 3 classes are they using? Have they even contemplated using any of the best Baldur’s Gate 3 spells? Given Cartman’s history over the course of the show, and his brief foray with World of Warcraft in that now-iconic episode from 2006, we think he’s definitely up to all sorts of mischief in the game.

Playing alongside him would definitely be one of the best Baldur’s Gate 3 party choices you could make though, if they were real of course. Either way, if you’re currently enjoying Baldur’s Gate 3, don’t forget to also take a look at all the new PS5 games on the horizon.
