Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s Basim will be a better assassin than Ezio

Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been announced - it’s on the way - and with it comes Basim, an assassin that Ubisoft is suggesting will be a lot better than Ezio

Ubisoft is finally talking about the long-rumoured Basim-led Assassin’s Creed game we’ve been waiting for and we couldn’t be happier. We already know that Assassin’s Creed Mirage has more than one homage to the series’ origins and Assassin’s Creed II, but did you know that it looks like Basim is going to be canonically a better assassin than fan-favourite protagonist Ezio? That’s right, Basim Ibn Ishaq is going to be better than Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

We know it sounds hard to believe, but this information isn’t just our opinion – even though we’re inclined to believe that Basim will be a better assassin than Ezio anyway. No, this information comes from Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage webpage (which went live shortly after the official reveal of the game and the Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date).

Teasing what’s to come in the Assassin’s Creed series’ next instalment, the webpage reveals that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will let players “become the most versatile assassin in franchise history” with seamless parkour, the “largest assortment of tools to date”, and “more visceral assassinations than ever before”.

We don’t know about you, but all that big talk sounds like Basim is – without a doubt – going to be the best assassin we’ve seen from the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Ezio included.

If you’re doubting that, however, you can check out the Assassin’s Creed Mirage reveal trailer for yourself below and see how effective Basim is for yourself.

If you’re annoyed by this fact, don’t be. Of course advancements in game design and the technology available play a part in offering players an improved experience with an assassin that boasts more versatility than before. However, we can’t help but think that Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s Basim is going to be better for reasons beyond that.

Ezio, for all his charming wit and fighting spirit, was born into wealth and the privilege of a Florentine noble. Basim, on the other hand, was orphaned at a young age and found himself fighting to survive for a lot longer than Ezio. This upbringing hasn’t just helped Basim with navigating the city streets and staying undetected when necessary, it’s also something that has hardened him; it’s something that will make him more ruthless and ultimately more effective. Ezio is technically gifted, of course, and a fantastic protagonist. However, it’s clear that Basim is going to have a different edge to his blade – and it’s one we can’t wait to explore further.

If you’re not too fussed about Assassin’s Creed Mirage, though, then there’s more Assassin’s Creed content to come – so, don’t worry. You can find out more about Assassin’s Creed Infinity’s Project Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Infinity’s Project Red right here.
