Assassin’s Creed Mirage Basim overview, history, and more

Basim is going to play a huge part in Assassin's Creed Mirage and we have everything you need to know about the RPG games' new protagonist right here.

Assassin's Creed Mirage Basim: Basim can be seen overlooking Baghdad

In Assassin’s Creed Mirage Basim is going to be the main character – and you’re going to want to know who he is. This is going to be one of the best Assassin’s Creed games out there and Basim could be one of the most accomplished Assassin’s the series has ever seen. If you want to know more about him ahead of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date, you’re in the right place.

In a similar fashion to Kassandra and Ezio, there’s a lot you need to know about Basim before you delve into the gameplay on offer. He’s not a completely new character, though, so there are a few things you can find out ahead of time. It’s just important to remember that this is a prequel – of sorts – to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. So this version of Basim isn’t the one we see there; he’s a little younger.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Basim history and lore

In Assassin’s Creed Mirage Basim Ibn Ishaq is the orphaned son of an architect who grew up in ninth-century Baghdad and joined the Hidden Ones to train as a Master Assassin. He achieved this – eventually – and became the leader of Constantinople’s Bureau, taking on Hytham as an apprentice. In a similar vein to Eivor and their connection with the Isu Odin, Basim is a reincarnation of the Isu Loki.

Unlike Eivor, however, Basim actually inherited the direct memories of Loki – thanks to the trickster’s wild attempts at avoiding the Great Catastrophe that destroyed the First Civilization. This makes him quite an interesting character in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as, by this stage in his life, his motives and personality are fuelled by Loki’s memories and own goals. We just simply don’t know who Basim was before this before he succumbed fully to Loki’s consciousness.

All we know at the moment is that Basim is a talented assassin who sought out learning from scholars and scientists at a young age alongside his training to master the art of being a Hidden One. With any luck, Ubisoft will use Assassin’s Creed Mirage to shine a light on all the mystery surrounding this character.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Basim – unique traits and abilities

Talking more practically about Basim, it’s clear that he is a talented assassin in every aspect – as mentioned above. His time serving as the leader of the Constantinople Bureau proves that as much as the fact that he has trained to become a Master Assassin in the Hidden Ones does. Not only this but there are several stories littered throughout the Assassin’s Creed lore that highlight his ability to fight and overcome members of the Order of the Ancients.

This all suggests that Basim is going to be quite the combatant in Assassin’s Creed Mirage – and, someone who has a knack for stealth.

However, as you might imagine, he isn’t perfect. He is hardened by the loss of a son, according to his database entry in Assassin’s Creed Rebellion, and it is believed that he has suffered from bouts of mania throughout his life – thanks to Loki. While we don’t expect Basim to directly channel the Aesir magic used by Loki originally, this does play into his worldview and how he approaches situations. It makes him dangerous and unpredictable, too. However, Basim is also shown to show compassion and respects the loyalty of those around him.

As for how he plays in Mirage, we don’t have any idea yet as gameplay wasn’t shown off but hopefully, we should get a better idea over the coming months.

Well, that’s pretty much the TLDR when it comes to Basim in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The gameplay footage we’ve seen seems to suggest he has quite a unique ability in his back pocket and we’re convinced that we need this Ghost of Tsushima feature in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
