Another potential Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date has appeared

An employee of retailer GameStop has leaked a new Assassin's Creed Mirage launch window with the release date for the RPG on PS5, Xbox, and PC seemingly soon.

A new Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date has been leaked by retailer GameStop and it looks like Ubisoft’s next title in this iconic franchise is going to arrive a lot sooner than realistically expected, but later than previous leaks. If you’re worried about not having anything to play over the summer months, this will come as some good news – especially if you’re an Assassin’s Creed fan looking forward to the Basim-led Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Why, though? Well, because GameStop has claimed that the currently unannounced Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date will fall in August 2023. The leak itself comes from a GameStop employee, who shared this on Reddit under the creative username ‘mynameisusername7‘ and they claim that it comes from marketing materials on the GameStop computer system. The leak itself is quite-literally just an image of the Assassin’s Creed Mirage key art with “August” underneath it. Above, we can see the accurate Final Fantasy 16 release date listed – something that adds credibility to it.

Now, we know there’s rumours that this RPG may just kick-off Infinity after all (the platform Ubisoft is going to use to launch Assassin’s Creed games moving forwards), but it does seem a little soon given what the developer shared about Assassin’s Creed Infinity in 2022. Of course, the project could have been bumped up to include Mirage, but coupling that with an apparent August 2023 release date almost seems too good to be true.

So, do we really believe this GameStop leak? Well, we’re not sure, to be honest. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launched November 2020 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launched October 2018, while Assassin’s Creed Origins launched October 2017. Looking further back, Syndicate dropped in October 2015, Unity dropped in November 2014, and Black Flag arrived in October 2013.

We know Mirage is the first Assassin’s Creed game in a little while, but there’s clearly a trend when it comes to Ubisoft’s previous AC titles; we just don’t know if this trend is going to be broken for Mirage, especially considering we haven’t seen anything more than a cinematic trailer for this title yet. Interestingly, though, when you consider the fact that this Assassin’s Creed Mirage release date leak suggests a late-June 2023 launch, it’s actually more believable to think it’s coming in August.

Ultimately, however, we’re all just going to have to wait and see what Ubisoft shares with us when the Ubisoft Forward 2023 showcase rolls around on June 12. It certainly could be something exciting involving a sudden release date for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but it might also not be quite as definitive when it comes to when we can play this game. The leaks we’ve seen from Assassin’s Creed Mirage are shaky at best, certainly nothing concrete enough to confirm that it’s coming in August.

Still, there’s still a lot to talk about when it comes to Assassin’s Creed. For example, Ubisoft might be working on more Assassin’s Creed multiplayer games. We also believe that Assassin’s Creed’s most mediocre moments could be saved by Hitman, but that’s a conversation for another day. Will Mirage be one of the best games of all time? It’s hard to say, but we’re hoping it ranks highly in our list of the best Assassin’s Creed games when it eventually launches – whenever that may be.
