Desperate Xbox players turn to Halo Forge for their Helldivers 2 fix

PS5-exclusive Helldivers 2 is so popular that Xbox players want a taste of democracy, and now Halo Forge will be the battleground for a Helldivers 2 remake.

The success of Helldivers 2 is still taking developer Arrowhead Game Studios by surprise, as the game’s servers are brimming with PS5 players. However, Xbox owners are left out of the fun and some of them are resorting to desperate measures to spread democracy across the galaxy. Now, a bunch of savvy Halo Forge creators are bringing a Helldivers 2 Xbox version to life.

We’re not surprised that Xbox owners want a slice of one of the best multiplayer games around. Helldivers 2 is a major PS5 exclusive, and its popularity is proving too much for the game’s servers. Halo Forge experts ‘The Forge Falcons’ recognize the game’s massive appeal, and confirm on social media that “we will be bringing the Helldivers 2 Experience to Halo Infinite” using the game’s creative sandbox mode. The Forge Falcons is an independent studio focusing on making high quality Forge experiences, as well as experimenting with Unreal Engine 5.

After casting a vote to its audience on social media, 89% of over 2,000 voters responded with a resounding ‘yes’ to see a Helldivers 2 Forge mode from the studio. “When the art is ready, we will post it alongside all the features that Helljumpers will launch with,” the studio clarifies. We’re exceptionally curious to see how The Forge Falcons replicate the new PS5 game’s progression systems, let alone its bombastic gameplay. Although, the studio seems confident it’ll be able to recreate these aspects faithfully.

“There of course will be limitations […] but the experience Helldivers 2 gives the player is extremely intense and puts you in the action 24/7,” explains the studio in response to Xbox players’ concerns. Nevertheless, The Forge Falcons believe  “Helldivers [2] has a lot more to it than just progression, players will be fighting together, just not on the same scale as Helldivers 2. But as always, we aim to impress and that is what we will do here, again.”

It’s a tall order to bring a multi-million dollar experience into Halo Forge, especially as it is quickly becoming one of the best co-op games on PS5. Forge has been a popular part of the Halo franchise since Halo 3, allowing players to customize maps, create new modes, and share them with other players. It has evolved considerably over the years, and projects like a Halo Battle Royale are made possible by it in Halo Infinite’s iteration of the creative tool.

An actual port of Helldivers 2 on Xbox would be excellent, but you know, we’d love a sequel to Halo 3: ODST instead – one of the best FPS games ever made. With Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries working on a new project, that might come to fruition, but it seems less likely after all these scrapped ideas recently came to light.
