Helldivers 2 is conjuring up a thirst like no other for PS5 players right now, as with hundreds of thousands queuing up to do their part on the front lines. However, getting into the breakout shooter isn’t easy considering how full the Helldivers 2 servers are. Luckily, a new update from Arrowhead Game Studios is taking the Helldivers 2 server cap higher – but the studio is already sure it’ll fill up quickly.
It is certainly an odd situation with Helldivers 2, which has become one of the best PS5 games out there in a short amount of time. While it is frustrating to sit in queues, often for a minimum of 30 minutes, seeing the game succeed is a positive sign for the future of the hit multiplayer game. Speaking on that success, game director Johan Pilestedt explains that Arrowhead has “updated the max CCU cap to 700,000.”
A significant increase for both console and PC players, the improvement to the new PS5 game takes the servers up from the previous limit of 450,000 concurrent users. But despite this great news, Pilestedt warns that “unfortunately, we expect the CCU to reach that level. [However] we believe that the wait times will be much more bearable.”
In our own testing, we’ve managed to get into Helldivers 2 without any major waiting times at the time of writing, but weekend player spikes and popularity in certain regions means our experience isn’t shared by everyone.
More updates are expected to hit Helldivers 2 in the coming days, as Pilestedt clarifies that “tomorrow we are doing some final improvements for the weekend.” The latest Helldivers 2 patch notes are out now, and these are some of the issues that the studio are aware of for future fixes:
- No text is present for the Requisitions and Social Menu on the Player HUD
- PS5 players may encounter error code 10003001 on the login screen
- Players can become disconnected during play.
- Rewards and other progress may be delayed or not attributed
We anticipate these problems to be ironed out over the weekend for what is one of the best co-op games of recent times, although playing a match might be a different story.
