Warhammer 40K Boltgun looks like classic Doom, comes out 2023

Warhammer 40K Boltgun has just been announced and it brings classic Doom-inspired FPS action to the Warhammer universe next year on consoles and PC

Warhammer Boltgun Reveal Trailer Doom: The player can be seen firing a weapon at enemies

The Warhammer Skulls showcase was filled with updates on games, but one of the most exciting new games announced was Warhammer 40K Boltgun, a classic Doom-inspired FPS set to launch in 2023.

Developed by Auroch Digital and published by Focus Entertainment, Boltgun puts you in the shoes of the ultimate killing machine: a Space Marine. As you travel across the galaxy you will fight Chaos Space Marines and demons of Chaos. Note, that this won’t provide the variety of action that Space Marine 2 will do when the Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 release date rolls around.

The game, however, which nails the classic retro-shooter look down to the sprite-based enemies and models, appears to be fully embracing the glory days of 90s shooters. It is set to release on all platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and even Nintendo Switch. So, you will pretty much be able to engage in gory first-person shooting pretty much wherever you choose to play.

Auroch Digital has previously worked on a number of other titles, including Mars Horizon and the upcoming beer-making Brewmaster. However, Warhammer 40K Boltgun is the first first-person shooter from the studio.

It is looking quite good from the initial trailer, so hopefully, it can make an impact next year when it launches. In addition to Boltgun, Darktide pre-orders are now live for the shooter and Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader was announced as the first CRPG set in the Warhammer universe.
