Horror icons are few and far between in modern movies, but you can always count on franchises like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre to deliver some old-fashioned thrills – for the most part. If the 2022 Netflix sequel didn’t quite hit the mark for you, then Gun Interactive might have what you need in this multiplayer game. But, is there The Texas Chain Saw Massacre crossplay available?
It is a solid multiplayer game that is available on the Game Pass games list. But, it doesn’t quite have the content to make its way onto our list of the best Xbox multiplayer games and best PS5 multiplayer games, as described in PCGamesN’s review of The Texas Chain saw Massacre. But does it have crossplay?
Does The Texas Chain Saw Massacre have crossplay?
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game does have crossplay between PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, PS4 and Xbox One players can’t make use of crossplay and are only able to play with other players on the same platform they are on.
The developer clarified it “wanted to break down all the necessary information on partying up, platform compatibility, and cross-progression.” Enter this neat chart that will get you up to speed ahead.
Depending on what platform you choose to play The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on, there will be some caveats to consider when making your purchase. Gun Interactive outlines the following parameters to take on board, and it is sad news for eighth-generation consoles:
PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S (ninth generation) can matchmake with each other
Xbox One will only be able to matchmake with other Xbox One players
PS4 players will only be able to matchmake with other PS4 players
You won’t be teaming up with your buddies on PS5, but that’s okay, you’ll probably survive better without them. We hope. Booting into the game will have crossplay enabled already, but this can be turned off at any time, should you wish to do so. While some games like Fortnite or Modern Warfare 2 can make matchmaking easier with an in-game social tab, there isn’t a friends list present in the game.
To get around this, the developer says that “players can create game-generated invite codes. Those codes can invite friends on different platforms to a party or directly load them into a lobby.”
The arrival of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game is bittersweet, as plans to sunset support for Friday The 13th are in the works amid licensing woes with the legendary franchise. Unfortunately, Friday The 13th isn’t the first of live service games in 2023 to meet an early end, with higher profile games like Marvel’s Avengers also receiving the same fate.
