Clockwork Castellans are scattered throughout the different chapters as you continue Leon’s journey to save Ashley. These Resident Evil 4 remake Castellan locations can be heard ticking away throughout the game, and you will need to keep an ear out to find them all.
If you do get them, you will nab yourself a few rewards, including the Primal Knife and an achievement or trophy. So, while they don’t provide any big gameplay upgrades, you will need to keep an ear out. In addition, if you want to fully complete Resident Evil 4, you will need to find them to get all the Resident Evil 4 unlockables. All of these locations below were found during our Resident Evil 4 remake review.
Castellan 1 location – Lakeside Settlement
The first Castellan location is by the lakeside settlement in chapter 1. As you come up towards it, you will see a house on your right. Inside this house, on a broken roof piece through the doorframe inside, you can find the figure.
Castellan 2 location – Village
The next clockwork Castellan location can be found just past the Merchant in the village in chapter 2. As you head north, you will reach a cabin. Inside this cabin is the Castellan. A chainsaw guy will appear here.
Castellan 3 location – Lake
Next up, when you reach the Merchant inside the cave system of the lake in chapter 3, you can turn around and head down the path to the right. Above a yellow barrel, you can find the Castellan sitting on the top of an overhang, viewable through a slit between it and the roof above the barrel.
Castellan 4 location – Lakeside Settlement
Back at the Lakeside Settlement in chapter 4, you can find the next Castellan location. Use the key you have obtained to go through the previously locked gate by the ladder to the overlook and then take a right up the ladder in this room. You will find yourself back above ground. Look out the fence, right of the dark brown wood and boards, to find a Castellan sitting, hiding in the bushes.
Castellan 5 location – Village Square
In the village square, follow the path up to the left, This path is the original path to the right where you entered the first time. But as you are now coming from the opposite direction in chapter 5, it is the back left path.
Push the gate open and head through the cave, opening the gate at the end. Here you can find the old house you visited earlier. Go upstairs and turn the switch on to reveal a ladder to the attic. Up here is the Castellan behind a yellow crate and next to a bucket.
Castellan 6 location – Checkpoint
The next location can be found at the back of the Villa. As you reach the burning pyre on the rafters in chapter 6, look next to it to find the Castellan chilling and cooling himself down.
Castellan 7 location – Dungeons
Inside the dungeons of the castle within chapter 7, after you have used the Dungeon Key, go up the ladder. In the storage room, as you take the second right, you can see the Castellan on the top shelf on your right.
Castellan 8 location – Castle Battlements
On the castle battlements in chapter 8, you will reach a tower where the El Gigante will throw rocks at you. To your right, you can find a spot to hop off. Jump down, and go up the ladder to the next tower. Around the back, by some bags, you can find the Castellan past some enemies.
Castellan 9 location – Courtyard
The next Castellan in Resident Evil 4 remake can be found in the courtyard in chapter 9. At the centre, path, take the last left before the staircase. Follow it around until you reach the back wall and then take a right. You will see a pile of rubble, with the Castellan in the corner.
Castellan 10 location – Sewer Tunnels
In chapter 10, you will make your way through the tunnels and pass a Merchant room on your left. Directly opposite that room, behind a grate, you can see the Castellan hanging down from the ceiling.
Castellan 11 location – Stopover
Within the stopover during the minecart sequence with Luis in chapter 11, you can find a path leading up to the left. As you reach the end, you can take a right to enter the building on your right. Directly above the window next to the door on the top floor, you can see the Castellan.
Castellan 12 location – Clock Tower
North of the ballroom back in the castle in chapter 12, you will find a carriage across to the next building. Take it and after getting off, open the double doors. Inside the room with the statue, underneath the stairs on the left, you can find a Castellan.
Castellan 13 location – Island Rockside
The next Castellan location is on the island in chapter 13. As you make your way to the large facility with Ashley, you will see on your right a large red container. Head down to that section of the area and look between a green forklift truck and the orange truck. Behind the wheel of the truck you can find the Castellan.
Castellan 14 location – Amber Storeroom
Inside the amber storeroom, head through the double doors after the cutscene and into the building outside. On top of the lockers, you can find the Castellan.
Castellan 15 location – Specimen Storage
Within Specimen Storage on the island, take a right, into the room with the wheel you can turn. On the beams in the small storage room connected to it, you can find the Castellan.
Castellan 16 location – Underground Passage
Finally, the last Castellan location is in the Underground Passage as you are escaping with Ashley. Once you reach the cargo room with a bunch of villagers on the floor, look to your right for a red light and green forklift. Behind that forklift, high up on a crate, is the figurine.
