Sony has announced that PlayStation players can get hold of 10 games free of charge as a part of its Play at Home 2021 update. The games in question are mostly indie gems, but also includes Horizon Zero Dawn and a handful of virtual reality favourites for those players equipped with a PSVR.

The free PlayStation 4 games are Abzû, Enter the Gungeon, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, and The Witness, and you’ll be able to download them from March 25, 2021. You’ll have just under a month to grab them, as they go back up to full price on April 22. If you’re a virtual reality enthusiast, then you’ll also be able to get your hands on Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Moss, Thumper, and Paper Beast during the same time period.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be available the following month: you can download it for free from April 19 until May 14. If you thought you’d exhausted the PlayStation Plus free games for this month or the best PS5 games, then this carefully curated selection of games will keep you busy for the foreseeable future.

Our personal pick would be Abzû, a stunning underwater adventure from the creators of Journey and The Pathless. If you’ve played either of them, then you undoubtedly already know what beautiful vibes Abzû will give you. Subnautica offers players a more dangerous, survival-based underwater experience, whereas puzzle fans will want to head straight for The Witness.

Next-gen console owners will have definitely jumped into PlayStation 5 exclusive Astro’s Playground, the playful platformer that takes you on a tour of your console’s inner workings. If you also have a PSVR and all the appropriate attachments, Astro Bot Rescue Mission offers a revolutionary take on the platforming genre that is filled with the same heart and soul as the PS5 launch title. Paper Beast is another of The Loadout’s favourites, as it allows you to explore a vibrant landscape filled with origami wildlife.

Horizon Zero Dawn needs no introduction, but if you’re eagerly anticipating next-gen sequel Horizon Forbidden West ahead of its scheduled release later this year, then playing through the Complete Edition with its Frozen Wilds expansion and host of exclusive cosmetics is a necessity.
