You’ve got just 48 hours left to rinse PS Store’s mega PS5 game sale

This huge PlayStation Store sale wraps up very soon, so PS5 and PS4 players don’t have long to grab a bargain on RDR2, Mortal Kombat 1, and many more.

Yes, we’re a solid two weeks into 2024 now, but Sony’s Christmas and New Year cheer is still going with its massive PS Store Holiday Sale. However, it’s not around for much longer, and players on PS4 and PS5 only have about 48 hours (at the time of writing) to snap up some top titles with healthy discounts. To speed up your last-minute bargain hunting, we’ve highlighted some of the tastiest deals that you can grab before this sale ends.

Sony slashed the prices of dozens of the best PS4 games and best PS5 games over the Holiday period, but time’s almost up on what is one of its biggest sales ever. According to the PlayStation Store, the Holiday Sale wraps up at midnight on Wednesday, January 17 for those on the west coast (that works out as 3am EST on the east coast, or 8am GMT for our UK readers, on Thursday, January 18). There are some must-play older games, mainly from the PS4 era, that have probably passed you by, but there are also some big new PS5 games from 2023 thrown in the mix as well.

Let’s start with some of those more recent titles first. Two fairly big names from last year with excellent discounts are the Resident Evil 4 remake Deluxe Edition (44% discount, down to $39.19) and the cross-gen Digital Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy (half price at $39.99). RE4 is a stunning recreation of one of the best horror games of all time, and was met with critical acclaim. If you love horror, or want to make a splash in one of the most iconic videogame series ever created, this is a must-play.

Hogwarts Legacy, meanwhile, was less adored by the critics – that includes us, as you can read about in our 7/10 review of the game. It’s hardly a boundary-pusher, but if you’re a fan of Harry Potter, it is an essential bit of media alongside the films and books.

Some other notable 2023 titles you can pick up with decent discounts include fantasy-parkour RPG Forspoken (60% off at $27.99), the latest Yakuza title Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (25% off at $37.49), and our favorite indie title of the year Dredge (25% off at $18.74).

There are some older titles that we also want to highlight due to their ridiculous discounts. If you never played Red Dead Redemption 2, one of the best open world games ever, now’s the perfect opportunity – the Ultimate Edition of the game is currently down from $100 to just $29.99, a discount of 70%. You can also pick up the standard edition of RDR2 as a bundle with the first game for $59.99, which has also been knocked down from its initial $100 price tag too.

Also, if you’ve been wanting to play (or have already played) Insomniac Games’ PS5 exclusive Spider-Man 2, you can cheaply catch up on the rest of the series with Spider-Man Remastered for the PS5 (50% off at $24.99) and Spider-Man Miles Morales (60% off at $19.99).

And finally, fans of the best fighting games and best sports games can pick up top-end editions of games like Mortal Kombat 1, Sifu, NBA 2K24, Madden 24, and Gran Turismo 7 with fairly substantial discounts of between 30 and 70%.

There are hundreds of other amazing titles in the sale, so it’s worth having a wider browse before it’s too late, but these are the titles we recommend picking up. While we’re on the topic of great deals, we recently did some research into the overall value of the games added to PS Plus in 2023, and were blown away by the final total.
