Spooky season (also known as October) is upon us and PS Plus is delivering the goods, if you’re someone who wants to play something a little scarier this month. Thanks to a new PS Plus October leak, both PlayStation 4 and PS5 players will be able to enjoy some fantastic titles with their membership – one of which is easily one of the best horror games out there right now. Perfect timing, right?
We know there’s not really a wrong time to enjoy some of the best horror games on PS5 consoles, but October is definitely the right time to get stuck into something on the spookier side – and it looks like PS Plus is well aware of that. Thanks to recent leaks from the ever-reliable ‘billbil-kun‘, we now know that the list of new October 2023 PS Plus Extra and Premium games will include Alien Isolation; if you haven’t played this yet, you really should now that it’s free with both PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium. It really is brilliant.
Set roughly 15 years after the events of Alien, which is one of the best alien movies we’ve seen and among the best horror movies of all time, Alien Isolation sees you play as Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley, in a first-person survival horror set in an abandoned trading station on the edge of known space. It doesn’t just expand on the Alien franchise universe in a wonderful way, but it also delivers on intense gameplay that goes above and beyond the tension crafted for the big screen. You can check out a short snippet of gameplay below, if you want to know what to expect:
If you’re not feeling Alien Isolation right now, but you still want something seasonal to get stuck into, you’ll be pleased to know that The Dark Pictures Anthology House of Ashes and Dead Island Definitive Edition are also among the new arrivals to PS Plus. You’ll also be able to play Gotham Knights, Disco Elysium The Final Cut, Gungrave GORE, and Elite Dangerous with your subscription from the mid-month update.
When is that? Well, an announcement confirming the above is expected on October 11 at 08:30 PST / 11:30 EST / 16:30 BST and then the games themselves will be available on PS Plus from October 17. So, there’s not long to wait.

It’s worth picking up one of the best PS5 SSD options on offer if you haven’t got any additional internal storage, too; games are only getting bigger and not having enough storage space is always frustrating.
