PS Plus Premium is Sony’s new highest tier of the subscription service, which will offer a bunch of benefits ranging from free games to discounts, to free trials, and more. But, how it works is a bit complicated, so we are going to explain PS Plus Premium in detail.

PS Plus Premium is the combination of Sony’s old PS Now service and the existing benefits offered by PS Plus, such as free games and PlayStation Store discounts. However, there are some key added benefits that Sony has thrown in to entice you to spend £120 or £100 a year.

This guide will go over those benefits, the price you will pay in each country and some of the caveats that come with the highest tier in some countries. Read on for the full overview of PlayStation Plus premium and everything PS Plus Premium has to offer.

PS Plus Premium Explained

PS Plus Premium is the highest tier of Sony’s PS Plus subscription service, It costs $17.99 / €16.99 / £13.49 monthly and $119.99 / €119.99 / £99.99 yearly. There are a number of key benefits offered with the highest tier of this service:

  • Two monthly downloadable games to keep
  • Cloud saves
  • Online multiplayer access
  • Exclusive PlayStation Store discounts
  • A library of up to 400 PS5 and PS4 games
  • 340 PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 games to download or stream
  • Select game trials ahead of a game’s release

There are, however, some caveats to all these benefits. PS3 games in the premium tier can only be streamed and cannot be downloaded. This is most likely down to the PS3’s cell processor, which is vastly different to traditional console hardware seen on most other consoles.

The library of games will rotate monthly with new games being added and old games being removed in the middle of each month. You can see the full PS Plus Extra and Premium games list here. On top of that, Sony is reportedly requiring all games that cost more than $35 to have a game trial.

If you live in a country that doesn’t have PlayStation Now currently, the highest tier of subscription is actually PS Plus Deluxe. This version of the service, includes all the other benefits, except the ability to stream and access any game from the PS3 era. The service will be discounted to reflect the loss of benefits.
