With Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet being the first proper full-fledged open-world game, you don’t have to tackle the game’s gyms in a specific order. However, because of the way each one is levelled there is still a recommended Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet gym order that you will want to go through while playing.

Of course, you can do other activities and complete other parts of the story paths beyond just going through the gyms. So, if you happen to over-level you can do these out of order. But for most players who are getting the full Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Pokedex you will want to follow this path.

The best Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet gym order is as follows based on the levels of the pokemon in each fight:

  • Cortondo Gym (Katy – Bug Type) – level 14-15
  • Artazon Gym (Brassius – Grass Type) – level 16-17
  • Levincia Gym (Iono – Electric Type) – level 23-24
  • Casarrafa Gym (Kofu – Water Type) – level 29-30
  • Medali Gym (Larry – Normal Type) – level 35-36
  • Montenevera Gyn (Ryme – Ghost Type) – level 41-42
  • Alfornada Gym (Tulip – Psychic Type) – level 44-45
  • Glaseado Gym (Grusha – Ice Type) – level 47-48

The Cortondo Gym is led by Katy and she offers up Teddiursa, Nymble, and Tarountula. For Brassius you will face a Petilil, Smoliv, and Sudowoodo. Levincia’s lit-up stage puts Wattrel, Bellibolt, Mismagius, and Luxio in the spotlight.

Kofu opts for a Veluza, Wugtrio, and Crabominable with Larry uses the lineup of Staraptor, Komala, and Dundunsparce. Ryme at the Montenevera Gym uses a spooky selection of Mimikyu, Banette, Houndstone, and Toxtricity, while Tulip picks Farigiraf, Espathra, Florges, and Gardevoir to lead her lineup.

Finally, Grusha at the Glaseado Gym leads with a Frosmoth. She also has a Beartic, Cetitan, and an Altraia to boost her forces in a battle.
