Free Overwatch 2 McDonalds skin now available, but there’s a catch

Blizzard is teaming up with Ronald himself to bring a free Overwatch 2 skin promotion to McDonalds - although, it's currently only available in Australia

We know it’s been an exciting time for Overwatch fans, especially when you consider the fact that Overwatch 2 voice lines reveal Sigma really hates shoes, but something even more interesting than the revelation that Overwatch 2 devs think they’ve nailed the hero balancing for Season 1 is coming. Or, at least, we hope it’s coming. You can get your hands on a free Overwatch 2 skin by ordering McDonalds – but there’s a catch.

Drum roll, please. The catch is that this strange promotion is currently only available in Australia – according to Overwatch insider and trusted leaker account ‘OverwatchNaeri‘.

From what we have seen online, it looks like Overwatch 2 players will be able to order a promotional meal from McDonalds Australia for a limited time in order to unlock an epic tracer skin. As you will be able to see from the promotional image below, the skin in question appears to be Tracer’s anniversary event skin ‘Lightning’ – a cosmetic that quite a few of you may already have.

While it’s a bit of a shame that this isn’t anything special, Overwatch 2 fans in the wider world will be pleased to know that the skin on offer isn’t exclusive to the McDonalds promotion – even though it’s a fantastic excuse to get a Big Mac and fries.

If you order the Overwatch 2 meal from an Australian McDonalds, you will find that your order is packaged in an Overwatch 2 branded paper bag, too – something that’s arguably nicer than the skin in question. You can check that bag out below:

In the comments to the above post, one eagle-eyed Redditor did highlight that McDonalds Australia is reportedly one of the sponsors for the region’s Contenders league, an important part of suppporting the Overwatch League. So, this could mean that we’re not going to see a similar promotion outside of Australia anytime soon. However, we’d like to think we’ll see something like this at some point. Although, with Overwatch 2 already out, perhaps it’s a little too late.

But, for now, we’ll just have to wait and see. Why not check out our Overwatch 2 tier list and the current Overwatch 2 win rates for each hero here, while you wait.
