With the NBA 2K24 release date on the horizon, the MyTEAM grind is set to start again very soon. If you want to kick things off with a 90-rated card featuring the tallest active player in the NBA right now (because who wouldn’t), you’ll be pleased to know that there’s a way for you to get a free Wembanyama card in NBA 2K24. However, there’s a catch – because, of course there is. Not only do you not have very long at all to get your hands on it for NBA 2K24 but it won’t be cheap at all – and we’re not talking about spending your NBA 2K24 VC either.
If you want to get your hands on a 90-rated Victor Wembanyama card for your MyTeam in NBA 2K24, you’re actually going to need to pick up the 25th Anniversary Edition of the game before July 17. So, you really only have a couple of days to guarantee you’ll have this player when the game comes out. As the most expensive version of the game, you’re going to need to drop a cool $149.99 (£129.99) for the privilege. NBA 2K24 pre-orders, for this version of the game and the rest of them, are available now.
French power forward for the San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama towers over the competition at a remarkable 7 feet 5 inches (over 2.2 meters tall) as the tallest active player in the NBA and the 10th tallest player of all time. He was selected first overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, the youngest player to win the Pro A MVP award, and he’s a three-time Pro A Best Young Player. Yeah, he’s going to be a menace on the court in MyTEAM, isn’t he?
You can check him out in action below, which should also give you a good idea of just how tall he actually is in real life – something that should be reflected in-game.
If you’re sitting there having a hard time justifying spending $150 on NBA 2K24, the 25th Anniversary Edition of the game also comes with the following pre-order bonuses:
- 5K VC
- 5K MyTEAM Points
- 10x Promo Packs (One per week)
- 95-rated Kobe Bryant card
- Ruby Devin Booker card
- 5x 6 MyCAREER Skill Boost Types
- 3x 3 Gatorade Boost Types
- Victor Wembanyama MyPLAYER Jersey
Like the sought-after 90-rated Wembanyama card, the Ruby Devin Booker and the Wembanyama MyPLAYER Jersey are both also only included in the pre-order bonuses if you pick up the game before July 17.

So, whether you’re going all-in on MyTeam or taking to the streets to cement your legacy in MyCAREER, this version of the game is going to make sure you get off to a good start. It’s also worth remembering that NBA 2K24 is going to offer up new “streamlined quests” for MyCAREER players to enjoy. So, even if you didn’t like last year’s offering, it’s going to be worth checking out again.
While it’s well-worth picking up all of this additional content, and that incredible-sounding Victor Wembanyama card, if you can, this does also suggest that NBA 2K24 is going to be horrifically pay-to-win again – something we’re not really a fan of. That, though, isn’t going to change anytime soon. So, you may as well make sure you’re one of the better-off in NBA 2K24 when it rolls around, right?
