MultiVersus developer Player First Games has confirmed that upcoming character Morty is set to be an ‘Expert’ difficulty addition to the MultiVersus roster. The news was delivered by game director Tony Huynh via Twitter.
Though some have questioned the decision to make Morty a difficult fighter to master, Huynh’s response to the criticism is certainly nonchalant: “I don’t know, we just kinda went down this road and couldn’t stop”, he says. Fair play. Huynh also notes that Morty has “some really cool setups” that he’s looking forward to players getting their mitts on when he eventually drops.
MultiVersus has a varied roster of characters, each offering a unique experience for the player. Across the lineup you’ll find fighters that fall into different difficulty categories, some of which are easy to pick up and play, but won’t be at the top of our MultiVersus tier list. Characters like the upcoming Morty, meanwhile, are much harder to get to grips with, but have the potential to completely dominate the rest of the roster.
MultiVersus Season 1 was due to ship today, August 9, however due to the studio requiring more time to polish the upcoming content drop it has been pushed back to an unconfirmed date. The Pre-Season Battle Pass has subsequently been extended until August 15.
Though this extension isn’t necessarily indicative of the MultiVersus Season 1 release time, it hopefully tells us that Morty will be arriving sooner rather than later.
