After announcing the standard edition cover athlete and the MLB The Show 22 release date earlier this week, San Diego Studio has unveiled who will be gracing the cover of this year’s Collector’s Edition, which will be available on Xbox and PlayStation. Nintendo Switch players don’t get access to the special editions unfortunately.
The collector’s edition actually features the standard edition’s cover star, Shohei Ohtani, however for this version, he has been redrawn as a manga character by legendary artist Takashi Okazaki.
This stunning piece of art will grace both the MVP Edition and Digital Deluxe Editions of the game, which come with both the last-generation and current-gen version of the games, a limited edition steel book (MVP Edition only), four days early access to MLB The Show 22, and double daily login rewards for the entire life-cycle of the game. On top of that, you will also get a Shohei Ohtani bat skin, 10,000 stubs, Diamond and Gold Choice Packs, one Ballplayer Pack, and The Show card packs, with the Digital Deluxe version also containing a Cover Athlete Diamond Choice Pack.
Alongside announcing the MLB The Show 22 release date, the Californian studio also revealed that MLB the Show 22 will come to Game Pass, marking the second year the series has hit the service. This means the price of entry on Xbox is significantly lower than that on PS5 and PS4, despite San Diego Studio being a PlayStation-owned studio.
In addition to that, players will get access to full crossplay support in MLB The Show 22, and cross-progression will allow you to transfer your progress across platforms.

We still haven’t seen any gameplay from this year’s entry in the sport franchise. But, San Diego Studio is once again planning multiple live streams and gameplay showcases up until the game releases on April 5, 2022.
