Jarring Honkai Star Rail Sanctus Medicus missions to be demoted

If you're annoyed at Honkai Star Rail's Sanctus Medicus missions, you'll be pleased to know that developer HoYoverse is changing them to Adventure Missions.

HoYoverse has just confirmed that it’s demoting all the mainline Honkai Star Rail Sanctus Medicus missions to secondary Adventure Missions, assessing that all “the content related to Sanctus Medicus seems really abrupt and forced” in its current state. Exploring the story of Honkai Star Rail characters involved with a Yaoshi-loyal secret sect in the Xianzhou Luofu, these missions undoubtedly help Honkai Star Rail bid to become one of the best RPG games out there. However, players have found them rather out of place in the main narrative – and HoYoverse is thankfully taking steps to address that.

In a Voice of the Galaxy Developer Radio transmission, courtesy of in-game guide Pom-Pom and the Honkai Star Rail development team, HoYoVerse has revealed that “the Crew has decided that the current placement of Sanctus Medicus missions in the story will negatively impact the overall narrative experience”. And, what does this mean for them? Well, as mentioned above, it all means that these missions are going to be demoted from the main storyline.

“In future updates,” the Developer Radio transmission reads, “the Crew will adjust the quest structure and alter all Trailblaze Missions related to Sanctus Medicus into Adventure Missions.”

If you’re still interested in exploring these missions, you’ll be pleased to know that “Trailblazers will be able to freely explore and complete these missions” when the changes are made. However, if you’ve played them, you might not want to.

As the conversation in this Honkai Star Rail subreddit post expresses, players are less than enthused about the missions relating to the Sanctus Medicus – with the OP of the post describing them as “NPC Impact”.

Compared to the main Trailblazer missions, the Xianzhou Luofu missions related to the Sanctus Medicus simply feel uninspired and out of place. The best Honkai Star Rail characters from the main storyline are absent, the conversations with NPCs are second-rate, and you’re largely running errands. As ‘BurningFlareX’ points out, “the fact it’s structured like a side quest with zero involvement from your companions makes it stick out like a sore thumb”.

Thankfully, though, HoYoverse has been “assessing feedback from Trailblazers” like this – and, with any luck, this shouldn’t be a problem anymore. Adventure Missions are side quest activities players can access at any point – from the right source – and you should be able to explore them at your own pace.

We don’t know where you’ll be able to find them and access them just yet, but HoYoverse has promised to deliver more information in detailed patch notes at a later date.

If you’re wondering what else is changing in Honkai Star Rail, this Developer Radio transmission also mentions that a new Chat System will be introduced in Honkai Star Rail 1.1. HoYoverse is also going to tweak Seele’s Ultimate to make it a little easier on the eyes; however, this update isn’t going to make version 1.1 as it “requires extra development and testing”.

While we wait for all of that, though, you can check out the latest Honkai Star Rail codes right here and why you should check out the new Prime Gaming rewards too. If you’re in need of Stellar Jade to get Honkai Star Rail’s Jing Yuan right now, you’re in luck.
