To increase your inventory space in Hogwarts Legacy, complete Merlin Trials to progress the corresponding challenge in your Field Guide. Each inventory upgrade increases carrying capacity by a maximum of four slots.
Merlin Trials are puzzles, typically involving moving or destroying objects in the environment to complete. You can find Hogwarts Legacy Merlin Trials by looking at the Hogwarts Legacy map in-game to track these puzzle locations.
Every few Merlin Trials you complete will also progress towards the challenge in the Field Guide. This challenge is the source of the inventory upgrade, so make sure you claim the reward from your Field Guide. The challenge is also staggered, meaning you’ll get the earlier upgrades quicker. For instance, the first inventory upgrade is earned after completing two Merlin Trials, while the second upgrade is granted after six Merlin Trials.

Rowling’s original stories. It is currently unclear whether she will earn any royalties from the game’s sale, but it is likely given it is based on her original body of work.
